Using 2 bottle jacks worked like a charm on a job I had been putting off. I was able to lift the custom wood sliding door out, without touching the screen door and fixed mounted door panel. I am glad I found this video, as it saved me time and effort.

Thanks for the great video. I put off replacing my door rollers for years because I couldn't get the door out. I was afraid to jack the frame because my usual MO is that something always breaks. After seeing your video I went for it and it worked great. After it was out, I also noticed that the metal ridge that the rollers ride on was pinched and out of shape. I pulled it out of the groove and worked it back straight. It has to be flared at the bottom so it will snap back into the groove. No more two hand pulls to get the door open.

Great stuff! No one I've found has given troubleshooting on uneven floor, etc. I was about to cut the bottom lip and epoxy back on! 😂

Thinking of cutting out a couple of sections at the bottom of the track siding, it appears to be one complete mold. So frustrating at the way some of these are designed, they know you eventually need to replace the rollers. I guess you could call the manufacturer about the lifetime guarantee that went out of business years ago!!

Intelligent. I tried and decided not to take the risk to damage the structure of my house, and went with an alternative method. I used the oscillator to cut half an inch of the top blocking rail of the Milgard vinyl frame, the cut size is 1/4in more than the size of the door. Later, that cut part was glued with super glue to a wooden 2x2 bar screwed to the frame top to support the door top. Easy removal of the door to replace the rollers and the rail cap makes my door working like charm now; i.e., opened/closed without any noise with the tip of my finger. From now on, i can remove my door any time I like with no effort at all.

So I did what you said and it worked perfectly. I used a 1x6 pine board tho which didn’t work the best because it bowed like crazy.

Just discovered the same issue at my duaghters condo today. Cant clear to remove. While I would like to try this, not sure if in a condo if its a good idea, for issues above the other suites. Rollers are worn and need replaced, but without removing, its impossible

Do you recall how much you had to jack the jack up? 1 inch or so? I also noticed that you moved the jacks. Did it not work in the first position? I'm about to try this and would love a little more detail. Thanks.

That's great for wood frame homes but here in Florida it's block and concrete no go

With all due respect, did you retract the rollers before you tried to remove the door? Also, my doors are removed toward the outside, because the threshold's "lip" is lower on the outside as opposed to the inside edge that meets the floor. In my case, I have to remove the stationary door first. Finally, I did have to use a jack years ago on my mom's house, because the header was not level. Anyway, good video! Thanks.

I almost did that yesterday seen the video today . When replaced the roller units pack them with good wp grease they come from factory dry

It seems I will have to do the same thing. I retracted the wheels and am still like an 1/8” shy of being able to remove, just pissed me off, it’s like the header has settled down My only issue is can I purchase rollers after getting off. It’s 20 years old , any suggestions? Thanks
