Ever wonder how to remove soda ash from your cold process soaps? It's easy! A cheap little steamer is all it takes to remove even the most stubborn soda ash. If you don't have a steamer, you could use the steam function on an iron, or you could even rinse the top of your soaps by running it under hot water! With the steam method, you might need to steam the soap several times to fully get rid of the soda ash. However, if the soda ash is light, a light steaming is all it takes! And it leaves a beautiful shine in the process!
If you are consistently having problems with soda ash, you might want to consider reducing the amount of water in your recipe. In my experience, water is the main culprit for soda ash and I really start noticing a big reduction when using a 36% or higher lye solution. Another way to help reduce soda ash is to cover your soaps and prevent air from getting to it. Additionally, when you are blending your soap, blending to a thicker trace can help reduce your soda ash as well. Hope this helps!!!
