@@RobSomeKnowledge I saw your video and contacted PUR. There's supposed to be a small horseshoe device in the box that moves the clamps. They don't make it for distribution. So when you Google PUR and get their website and ask about removing that part, your video pops up!

Same here. I have the 30-cup dispenser and the lever came off of spigot. I’ve only had it for two weeks. According to reviews on Target this seems to be a common problem with no obvious solutions. I tried fixing it of course but nothing. It’s like impossible to put lever back on.

They have a bad reputation for this. Doesn't matter if it's straight or crooked. And every time you remove it, it seems to get worse. There is a really skinny band/gasket on that section closest to the inside of the tank, and i imagine a new one would do the trick. I'll be finding out today, cuz after cleaning my spigot, everything drained out of the dispenser overnight. Off to Home Depot...

They do come with a tool now. At least mine did!

Yeah the older ones like shown on this video don’t. Do you have the blue and clear one? Or all clear? I even emailed PUR and they told me sorry this spout isn’t removable. Well I think I kinda proved them wrong 😅

@RobSomeKnowledge ours is blue and white, and you totally proved them wrong!! Haha! They should send you the new little key it comes with. It looks like the design of the dispenser has not changed whatsoever! I always wondered what we would do if we lost the little plastic key it comes with. We hung it in a baggy on the fridge with the little filter change reminder stickers.

I soaked mine in 6% acidity vinegar (i use it for a lot of things, and it's how you dissolve mineral crust without using nasty toxic stuff. I also have a small collection of bottle brushes and toothbrushes, and i had a toothbrush that had good wear to it. So i added antibacterial dish soap to the mix and scrubbed the details. If the residue is black, you have black mold. That's bad. If you have sediment, then you're filter is too old, and/or your water is being contaminated. If it's green it's algae, and if it's pink, that's from your tap water - maybe some rust. Anyway, while soaking and scrubbing sounds like a big pain, it really isn't any worse than taking a shower. It's just different.

Trust me that has already been attempted. They said they don’t sell that part on it’s own. They even told me that my nozzle on my dispenser wasn’t removable. 😂😂😂. And it wasn’t always included as I never got one when I bought mine

Yeah some people have told me that, but mine never came with one, even PUR customer support told me this spout isn’t removable when I emailed them seeing if I could get a tool, LOL!

So unfortunately I don't have a source for the o-rings, as I haven't had an issue with mine leaking at all in 5 years of owning it. PUR customer service isn't very helpful with this info either. You could use any o-ring the same size, as long as it doesn't leak and is food safe. Not sure which lights you are talking about, my filter or dispenser doesn't have any lights on it.

Hey I feel ya. I definitely hate they don’t sell replacements parts. But to be fair I’ve had mine for several years now and mine is still in perfect shape.

Also, if you want to install an inline filter that’s great! Have you tried contacting PUR with this issue? They may just send you a replacement for free, could be a spigot replacement or maybe a whole new pitcher assembly. It’s worth a shot at least!

Hahah no problem! I don’t blame you at all was just putting in my experience. Planned obsolescence definitely exists and is a huge problem in a lot of industries, not only as far as consumer satisfaction, but producing a lot more waste than necessary.

Yep I have heard that in the newer models. Mine never came with one, in fact when I contacted PUR to see if I could purchase or receive a tool, customer service insisted my spout is Non-removable, what a joke.

Cheap to buy and replace as needed even if you toss the pens!😆

Your spout handle came off? Mine is just a straight cylinder not a ball shape. Did you find a replacement spout or what’s your plan with that?

@Rob Some Knowledge I'm not 100% sure. I bought the kit and it had a tool to remove it entirely and replace the spout of need be since it had a battery detector in it... but I can't find any replacement spouts to buy. :/

Yeah I haven’t been able to find any. I believe the tool is just to be able to remove for cleaning they don’t offer a replacement part.

@Rob Some Knowledge now I have to empty the container once it's filtered. Cause the ball that you wedge the handle on is gone. Simply vanished into the 5th dimension.

Best way would be a solution of hot water, vinegar, and dish soap, soak and wash, run a flexible bottle brush through the nozzle, rinse thoroughly to completely remove any vinegar, then dry and re-install

Not that I know, but I would try just replacing the o-ring on it first. I don’t know of any direct replacement part for the oring but if you measure and just order some o-ring the same size that is food safe

This would be useful to know too. Mine leaks when it has too much water so I think it is some sort of water pressure issue

Hmmm weird. Do you have the exact model as me? Clear pitcher with blue upper portion, or do you have the all clear one?

​@@RobSomeKnowledge that's where i'm at with this. The pen caps didn't work (too rubbery), so i used mini screwdrivers. Then i cleaned it and the little leak from the first time i cleaned ages go has turned into a flood. I was looking at that o-ring and telling myself to get one, but put it back in - silly me. Glad i checked this before heading to the hardware store - didn't think about food grade! Also, if you look at reviews for the product, virtually all complaints are about how it leaks. And if you clean the spigot, it'll get worse. Damn shame such a good filter and such a huge company, and they can't make decent spigots or offer replacements. But then they wouldn't make as much money, would they? (While the landfills overflow with plastic)

@@RobSomeKnowledge I called the manufacturer. (Why don't more people do that? lol) They said they sell no spare parts. They don't even offer the tool separately. He suggested going to a thrift shop or online and looking for one that fits the same hole. As if some 3rd party spigot would clip in and be the exact same dimensions. eyeroll.

@@RobSomeKnowledgethe spouts are cheaply made. I’ve never had one last much longer than 2 years of heavy usage. Usually less. PUR doesn’t sel replacements. AFAIK no one is making replacements. PUR claims there is only a 3 month warranty on these … so this pitcher only built to last 1.5 filters 😂

You are not alone. These tabs are placed on a very delicate lever. I broke two spigots in six months. I am never buying this PUR model again ever.

Try to call or email PUR directly. I’ve looked for these before and can’t find any for sale.

most people throw it out because there is zero information as to what it's for. I found one in my landlady's junk drawer and cut it to use it for something else - had no idea that's what it was.

@@3ngi_n33r I haven’t had any issues since I got it really. If it’s not coming from the spigot the only other thing it could really come from would be some small hole in the pitcher itself. Is it actually leaking or are you just seeing the condensation left behind? As you said it only happens when it’s in the fridge.

@@RobSomeKnowledge it seems like condensation but its alot. I leave it on the counter overnight and nothing. Put it in the fridge theres water everywhere the next morning. Condensating out of the lid maybe? I might need to just exchange it.

@@3ngi_n33r hmmm yeah that sounds really weird and haven’t experienced it myself. I would probably go that route and try to exchange it or reach out to PUR and see if they have any solution or experience with that issue.

That's weird, I just got a comment saying the same thing a few days ago. But before that, haven't heard this once. The other guy said it leaks in the fridge, but if he leaves it out on the counter it doesn't leak. You should try this and let me know your results

​@@RobSomeKnowledge I have the same container as you (though all clear) and whenever I would fill the reservoir to the very top and put it back in the fridge, it would majorly leak. I would come back to the fridge an hour later and find a puddle on the floor in front of it and inside water everywhere. Water filled in the side compartments of the door, in the crisper, etc. - it was a nightmare! I thought it was damaged due to this amount of leaking, Then I realized that the clear heavy-duty acrylic "hood" for the butter compartment at the top of the interior door panel was protruding into the top shelf where I had the PUR container was and making contact at exactly the point where the spout was. I removed that plastic hood which cleared almost two inches and have not had a problem since. Relief! Btw, excellent video - great instruction, video quality, and camera zoom ins. Thanks!
