I also had the same problem. After I called a friend of mine to help me with the stuck rotors, I greased all the contact housing surface with copper grease. So next time brake rotors will come out easily.

you need to wrap those lug nut threads with cloth when you put those pry bars.

Fastest is with a air hammer and hammer bit, hit the rotor surfaces first from one side to the other. Get a bigger hammer. No one wants to hit the rotor surfaces for some reason.

11:59 The easiest way is put some WD-40 around the edge between rotor and wheel hub, also all around nuts and any hole on the surface, wait 5-10 minutes, than use a rubber hammer hit the rotor hard on both sides, it will come off in a minute. 11:59

Many people don't know this. The brake caliper can be used to push off the rotor.

I just lightly tap the brake rotor off from the wheel well side.

THE best way to remove a seized rotor is to strike hard with a 4lb+ hammer at a 45 deg angle on the crown (the corner edge edge near the studs), it warps the rotor for a millisecond and pops it right off, I've never had this not work, never had it damage anything. Technique is everything, the strikes must be sideways enough to cause the instantaneous warping that allows it to pop off, (too inward and it won't work, too sideways and it won't work). The point of the video is to help people learn best techniques no? It's best to learn from people who have done hundreds of brake jobs in their lifetimes. Being one of those people, I can tell you a hammer is quicker and more effective, you damage nothing (to include the old rotor) If a rotor is barely held on the hub flange (like it was in the video), a little tap is all it takes, if a rotor is really seized on there, then yes, a big accurate blow with a sledge may be required. But the method in the video isn't going to be any easier on a truly stuck rotor...you're going to need an impact or a long bar to turn those bolts, I'm skeptical it would even work based on my experience, (there are vids of people snapping bolts, etc.) This method requires you to find bolts that will work, probably use PB Blaster on the threads, maybe strip a bolt, etc., omg, grab a hammer and you're done in 2 seconds. I think the issue is the hammer requires technique, hit it correctly and it takes two good smacks max, hit it slightly wrong and it is way, way, less effective. This video is how you hit the rotor properly, the person in this vid seems like an amateur so his technique isn't great, but it's in the neighborhood of proper (his angle isn't 45 degree strikes, his are too inward instead of more sideways, and you can hit MUCH harder if needed). One good accurate smack on a rotor like this and you're done, literally one smack. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpOTedR0vLDIf4k.html

I'm very familiar with that technique and a few other ones also. I have used other methods in other videos as well. The point to my videos is to show people multiple ways of accomplishing an ultimate task. Thanks for watching please Like, Share and Subscribe if you haven't already

@@BIGWILLSCARCARE I think you're missing the point, I just watched your video from 3 years ago titled "How to Remove Stuck/Rusted on Brake Rotor", and in that video you demonstrate every incorrect possible way to hit a rotor, literally never hit it correctly one single time. It's so obvious to a seasoned mechanic that you were never taught the proper technique, if you had been, then you'd instantly understand the ridiculous ineffectiveness of this bolt technique that you are espousing (you even snapped a bolt head in that video, further proving my point). I agree with you that there can be more than one way to skin a cat, nothing wrong with sharing multiple techniques, but in this case it seems like youtube is full of people sharing this same dumb idea. It's like watching the blind lead the blind. I sincerely hope someone shows you the right way to pop a rotor off someday so you'll have that "ah-ha" moment and understand it only takes 1 or 2 well placed smacks and you're done.

11:59 I use a 1 lb rubber hammer only, but hit the rotor very hard on both sides, nothing hurt the rotor, even I worked on a RAM pro master rotors, very easy get them off, 99% They just rusted around the hub, get the WD-40, The oil will get into the rusty area very fast, rotor will get off when you hit it.

What do you do when you strip the threads out of the rotor?
@BIGWILLSCARCARE
@BIGWILLSCARCARE Жыл бұрын
@Bob Adams you can also turn your steering wheel so the spindle faces outward and hit the Rotor from the inside the rotate the Rotor 180 degrees and hit that side. Make sure you hit the area of the Rotor that is not covered by the dust shield and make sure both wheels are off the ground. @@BIGWILLSCARCARE Yeah, I was doing that for 2 days straight. Finally got it off today. I found that the rust between the outside edge of the hub and the rotor was what was hanging it up. So next time I'm going to spray the penetrant around the back side of the inside of the rotor.
@BIGWILLSCARCARE
@BIGWILLSCARCARE Жыл бұрын
@Bob Adams you can also clean it with a wire brush and put anti seize on the hub before replacing the Rotor

@@BIGWILLSCARCARE Mine does not have those holes in the middle of the rotor but i used a 4lb hammer and applied some heat in between whacks 5 good hits and it came off the other one came off via bolting method from behind the rotor from the calipers holder and tighting with loose screws and washer like one of the videos showed and it popped out after a few turns no harm done to the hole thanks tho will keep this trick up my sleeve
