Thank you, thank you, thank you! Over 2 hours I am trying to pull it out with no result. After I found your video I am able to pull it out in few seconds, no wiggling needed. A8 D4 MMI 3G+ unit

Okay so there is a much easier and simpler way that is way more effective than this suggestion and very easy, causes no damage and much less frustration. After studying the mechanism this is my suggestion and it works 100% Use the same key and gently slide it in above the key that is stuck - NOT ALL THE WAY IN THOUGH. The additional key that you slot in will cause the clip to free the previous key. You are welcome... Huwk Tuah

Another approach that worked elegantly for me is this: Take another key and slide it in from the side (so at 90 degrees to the stuck key) underneath the tab you press in. Keep the straight edge facing towards the front of the unit, so the curved edge gently disengages the pin that is locked into the slot in the stuck key. Remove the stuck key. Only gentle pressure needed.

Same tool and same problem. Stuck for about 30 min and this didn’t really work for me. I’ve just used the screwdriver messing around with the metal part on the side of the unit and at the same time wiggling and pulling the stuck tool and at kept trying different angles. All of a sudden it worked but I have no idea how.. Will not use these tools any more.

My octavia 3 radio looks a little bit different and I have no idea how it looks inside so no idea what to try to push to unlock. :( on to google other solutions...

@@UltimateDIY @Ultimate DIY So this latch mechjanism or what it is is a slight bit different inside I think. As you shown the stopping mechanism on the left (the metal that doesn't allow this piece of clip to move in more) is why it can't really be pressed more inwards which would help unlock I think. I used a small screwdriver I pushed through the crack and pushed on the inside part of that latch and somehow I managed to remove both keys (maybe I deformed it inslide a little bit), after about an hour, but I am not confident I could do that again. I may try to get a different set of keys or file this one down (in which case I don't know if it will work anymore). The keys have similar rough marks as youtrs' probably from all the removal attempts. All in all I read articles and watched videos and while it didn't exactly work yours was the closest and helped most to understand how the mechanism works which in turn helped with the removal as I just kind of insisted with something that didn't seem to work but then it did. On second watch you sound romanian... 3:55 'adi.. i mean...' :) Thank you for the video.

I will make a video in a few months on how to add Bluetooth, but I have no intention to add USB connection as I already have SD card.

The funny point is, previously I cut this tool out of a plastic card and had never a problem with them. But then, I thought I should buy a "stable" tool 😅 Well, now both of them are really stable sticking in the MMI unit 🤣

All together it took me more than one hour. But it is done. I had to do exactly what you proposed, but with a pretty a lot of strength!

Yup, I had a similar experience. My original ones were cut by me from a piece of sheet metal and worked perfectly. But ai decided to buy dedicated ones. Bad decision that was!
