Thank you!! I'm not sure yet. So far I've got it up and running and fixed a bunch of stuff. Corona put everything on hold so we'll see what the future brings 😁

For anyone who has to do this in the future. Remove the 4 bolts holding the bed to the frame and you'll have a few inches of wiggle room, without impeding the fuel pipe to get to those bolts in between the bed and the cab

It's funny, you'd think the fiberglass would be for weight savings but it's heavier than the regular bed which is bigger... Thanks for the info btw!
@dylangreen86792 жыл бұрын
not for weight savings its for cost savings. fiberglass typically cheaper and easier for the assembly line to slap on.
@zane314152 жыл бұрын
@@dylangreen8679 That makes a lot of sense.

I was wondering if this was the same for the non stepside steel version. I have a lot of damage on one side but the other side is mint and was hoping to not replace whole bed.

same here

Sorry been a crazy year. Not sure if the non stepside is fiberglass or not
@scottjackson1636 Жыл бұрын
I have the same problem. It's definitely steel on the 2003 non step side. I guess I will go out and pull bolts and see if it comes off.

Do you know if the inside bed dimensions for the flareside is the same as the regular style bed, dimensional wise.
@yusufrimawi9822 жыл бұрын
I don't know. I think the flairside came in the shortest bed size.

Is there anyway to push the fiberglass bed side out wards because I hit that and it push the bedside in wards in a way that make the tailgate unusable.
@yusufrimawi9823 жыл бұрын
Fiberglass isn't really malleable like metal. You can try hitting it with a hammer but once it breaks you have to repair it.

Got a question bro do ford lightnings of those years also have the fiberglass bed sides ?

That zip tie idea is great. I’ve broken 2 universal joints already. Ever thought about making it a flat bed? Or different bed?
@yusufrimawi9824 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Electrical tape works as well! I needed more angle so I went with the zip tie. I was thinking of switching up the bed but I love the stepside so much! It's really unique to have the stepside with a regular cab, 5 speed, and rwd. If I ever get a diesel I'd make a custom flatbed for it.

I totally disagree with your praise of the fiberglass. IMO its a sh88t design and I also hate the way the bed top corners no longer have hole throughs for if you wanted to stick in a 2x4 and screw in some plywood to them to increase the bed height for hauling yard waste etc. The fiberglass is about as lame as driver seat covers, bed covers, or spray on bed liner.
