What's up guys, just a video of removing the steering wheel on a 350Z. This video is actually part of three, but it would've been way too long to upload all of it, lol. I should have the Akebono's back from powder-coating soon, and should have them installed soon as well, and the radiator should be installed soon too. I had just swapped mine. Thank you for the video! I have a stick shift 2003 350z, bought a steering wheel of an automatic 350, and had to do a little extra swapping. Those T30 security bolts have some anti seize on them from the factory... being there for 17 yrs it made it a little difficult to get out, so just make sure to use appropriate tools, with the right size whatever it is and apply the right angles when wranching, do not half ass it cos it'll cost you more time, money, and frustration. If you bend the safety torques bit, I found a cheap set of safety bits from Harbor Frieght have holes in the bits that are off center. Because they are cheaply made, but work great.

Pretty solid video. Thank you. Just a tip, you might benefit from a set of better tools. If you have a set of professional torx that are sockets and attach to a proper rachet you might not suffer from many of those dreaded torx problems as you've described. Thanks again for the video. I will make sure to disconnect my battery first bcuz my airbag is still intact

do you know if the steering wheel and the steering shaft have splines on them to keep them from spinning freely if that nut is gone? I need to center my steering wheel but I'm not sure how much I'll have to do.

Great vid! I’m having Issues with my horn. It seems to work when I turn my wheel about 35 to 50% from straight wheels to the right if that makes any sense to you. Do you have any insight on this issue?

Have you ever swapped 06-09 steering wheel controls onto an earlier wheel? I've heard it's plug and play but you don't get the illumination when your lights are on.

I haven't actually tried that, my car is a base model. No steering wheel controls at all. You find anything else out? Or try it yet?

Autozone, Napa, harbor freight, or home depot should all have them

I stripped both security torx bolts but I finally got them removed. I had to cut the plastic trim and use vice grips. I cant find replacement security torx bolts anywhere. Can I use a basic bolt instead???

Yes, I have seen 10mm bolts used many times.

@@manno5620 I cut the plastic trim on the the column and took some strong vice grips and removed the torx bolt that way. It was a pain in the ass but I got it off.

Damn. If you KNOW what you're doing and that happened, and me NOT knowing what I'm doing tries to do this, that bolt pin is completely fucked lol. I guess I'm not replacing my steering wheel cause I do not wanna get stuck without a wheel because I fucked up taking the screws off lol
