Called a plumber yesterday morning to fix a leak in my bath waste. (I love my 3 baths per week!) No word from him as of 2 pm today, so I had a look on KZfaq to see if there was a solution. Absolutely brilliant, thanks! My wife and I sorted the problem thanks to your video. Called the plumber to say 'thanks, but the leak is fixed.' Just subscribed.

Hi there and thanks for the vid. I'm using the same waste kit on my bath but have a question. When you fit the plughole washer, does the rubber washer go with the slight raised inner area facing the plug hole or the other way. Thanks.

Hi . brilliant video as I think this is my problem as the bath leaks when emptying under watch before the white pipes.. do you need to glue any parts down? i.e the plug and washers ?

No just renew the washers or use mastic.

Got a similar kit, I had intended to squirt some silicone on both sides of each washer for the plug, but you didn't appear use any sealant around either (topside or beneath the bath) - please clarify. PS I don’t have either Fernox or plumbers mate, just some clear B&Q sealant.

You wont need any the sealing rubbers are fine on bath waste.

Are those overflow roses a standard size in the UK? As I need to replace only the rose. The threads bit on my rose seems to be 4.5 cm. I've noticed that they come in kits and I've not been able to find the Rose without the kit.

Excellent video. My chrome overflow is looking very tarnished. Is it possible to just unscrew the front of the overflow and replace rather than having to take the side of the bath out and replace the whole assembly?

I wish it could be like that too. Once you unscrew the old grill the action of twisting on the new one will push it back through the bath. Also you will need to hold the back of the fitting as you screw on the chrome grid, otherwise the pipe will twist and possibly break.

I’ve just ordered one of these . Was gonna pay a plumber but I think I’ll try it myself . Is there anything I shouldn’t do ? Or anything I need to watch out for ? So I need sealant? Thanks

My bath has a 2inch pre drilled hole where the overflow goes. I can only find overflows with a 1.5inch overflow fitment (the part your fitting at 4mins 40 seconds) When I try and fit the ones I can find there's to much movement when screwing it on a debit doesn't make a watertight seal

There usually is this movement around the overflow hole, you have to make sure the fitment is lined up exactly in the centre of the hole.

Can only the bath waste flange be replaced or does the complete unit - bath waste flange, trap and overflow pipe need to be changed alltogether? Are the 70mm flange universal?

I normally use a smear of fernox on an old bath, just to be sure of a good seal that won't start leaking after a year or so, I have repaired lots of these that were fited without any fernox this year

I have just bought one off screwfix . Mine was £7.15. It’s got the plug and chain with it too... it’s very nice and you get all what you need to install it . Comes with 2 white washers . So I’m assuming you need both

@@normajeancanclean1320 hey Norma, in the end I went to Screwfix and got one. I found the some of the parts are interchangeable and others not. So the overflow pipe of the new Screwfix one was to big, did not create a tight seal on my current waste, but the seals and washers worked great. Mine came with two washers, one to go behind the rose and another behind the bath and that has stopped my leak. Taylor wimpey did not put a washer behind my rose and had the washer behind the bath on backwards.

It will need holding from the back. You will need to remove the bath panel.
