Great video , I have done loads of over-seeding of lawns this year but generally have to go back 3 weeks later and sow more seed in the bare patches where either the pigeons have feasted or the hose sprinkler has washed the seed away. Agree one of the most satisfying jobs 👍🏼👍🏼

Great job. I wish we had a lawn care company near me with your dedication. I use 1 of the nation wide companies, they are a joke. They claimed that they only employ qualified green keepers. The franchise owner used to come himself but he just sends a young man. They overseeded my lawns this year, they had to do it twice and still messed it up, they used the cheapest compost on the market to top dress. I ended up with twigs and pieces of wood over my lawns, it was so bad I damage my cylinder mower blade with the hard lumps. I have all the tools needed but I have a mobility issue so I am limited to what I can do. I will give it a go next spring.

Looks good mate. Been a weird year for rain and cold. Last week my lawn looked mint for the first time since 2020. It'll be flooded again tomorrow as it is bucketing down now.

Nice garden I find it much easier to just lift the turf and then seed rather than scarify multiple times also if he Rotavated You can pick out any stains or rubble and then level and seed with that lovely top so just how I do it I was late hard work but worth it

Great as always 👍🏻 could you do a video on a lawn care calendar?? I’m getting overwelmef with information and I don’t know when to use feed, fertilisers etc and what products, etc We are now into autumn and I still haven’t put anything on the lawns for winter protection, I just did a scarification core stated, levelled off with some sand soil mix, and some aftercut as that’s all I had laying around, obviously not ideal for this time of year, also is the seaweed just a feed? Do I need to apply that iron sulphate stuff?

I seeded my lawn which was pure soil, not a weed or blade of grass 24 days ago. It sprouted around the 9 or 10 day mark, I over-seeded again 8 days ago because it was sparse with some really bare spots. Still waiting for the second lot to sprout. I was disappointed with it but after seeing this video I feel better, it looks similar to this video. I had some run off and some top soil washing away, I also did some bare spots on my other lawn but I put more top soil on those so it wouldn't wash away, not one blade of grass came through, I presume I put too much top soil on those. My question is should I mow the new lawn at the end of the month or leave it till spring? It's about 3 inches now (the 24 day stuff), it will be 40 days for that and 23 days for the later seed.

Yes definately mow it! It will help thicken up, if it's 3 inches start cutting it on dryer days

Hi Matt, I d hope you get read this! My friend's small lawn is v v compacted. I want to dig a fork down to create drainage holes and pour 'something' to improve the drainage, what would you recommend? Sharp sand or something similar? Thank you for all your tips and know-how. Christine

What did they use to kill the lawn off? I think I'm going to have to go back to dirt as it's severely rutted and needs a proper levelling...

How do you kill the lawn off? And how long after killing off can you reseed etc?

Use a non selective weed killer spray, some have different timeframes and usually stated on the label based on the product that's used

Hi mate no not really probably does have a few more in it cutting mainly driven by growth and weather sand the growth is slowing down now.
