Thank you SO much!!! Easy easy easy!!! I had a knot in my warp, through a hole no less, and within 7 minutes was all taken care of and happily weaving again

I was working on a double block weave project and had one of the threads on my bottom layer break and i hadnt realized for a few inches so i was relived to hear you didnt need to tie the new one to the old one. Used a t-pin and i havent had any more issues!! Thank you for a helpful video ❤

Great you were able to fix it! Double width is tricky considering that bottom layer is not visible most of the time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Had a warp thread break and thought the whole project was done for! Followed your instructions (except I used a pair of heavy scissors for the weight). Worked like a charm!

So glad it helped you, good thinking with the scissors, there are so many things around the home that you can utilise as a weaving tool 😊

This was very useful, thankyou! But also, I found that the adjacent warp thread was loose after cutting the broken one. So I had to put a weight on that one to keep the tension.

Glad you found a solution, I use weights a lot in weaving, they are such a great quick fix 😊

This is clear and helpful. I had a frayed warp thread in my 3/2 pearl cotton, which broke. Normally pearl cotton is a great warp thread. I wonder if one of my cats got to it, even though I always cover my project when I'm not working on it.
@KellyCasanova6 жыл бұрын
Cats are pretty crafty when it comes to getting the threads they want! It could have just been a particularly weak spot in the thread too - it happens. Thanks for your comment.

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! I love your videos! What size/weight S hook do you use.

Not sure of the weight, it's about 4 inches from top to bottom :)

Kelly: Thank you. Saved my bacon again. I'd made a mistake in my weaving - I used the wrong color yarn in the order of things. Figured it would be faster to cut it off. Inadvertently cut a warp string in the process. 😠 Used this option and am off and running again. ✌️

Thank you so much, this is amazing! Just to be sure, the beginning of the new warp thread just gets cut off once you wet wash the item? I don't weave it down through the already completed work?
@KellyCasanova4 жыл бұрын
Yep, it just gets cut off 😊

Hello Kelly - thanks for that re useful video. Am I right in thinking that you do not weave in the ‘tail’ of the new warp thread at any stage i.e so that for a short distance, the original warp thread and the new one overlap. From what you said, it seems that you just snip off the tail after wet finishing, so that the old and new warp threads do not overlap at all, is that right? Thanks very much.
@KellyCasanova10 ай бұрын
No, you don't need to weave it in, both ends (the new and the old) get woven in naturally.

Thank you! My cat bit through one of the warp strings on my inkle weaving, I think this method will work to replace it.

Kelly, I warped lots of slub yarn based on a pattern using cotton slub 8/2 and a 10 dent heddle to make 4 napkins. While making my first napkin the back and forth action has made some of the warp peel (fray). Is there anything I can do to stop the fraying? Do I need to change to an 8 dent heddle? Should I just cut off and get 8/2 (not slub) and use the slub on the weft? What do you do when fraying occurs? Thank you for any help!
@KellyCasanova2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna, that is frustrating for you! Yes, personally I would use the slub as weft over warp. I wouldn't want to go to the 8 dent, as for something like napkins I think the sett would be too loose.
@shcheok96584 жыл бұрын
Hi..if just one thread in the rigid heddle is loose, how do I make it taut, so it has the same tension as the rest ?
@KellyCasanova4 жыл бұрын
You can use an "S" hook and loop it over the loose thread at the back beam so that it hangs over the back and applies weight.

This was so helpful, thank you! My cat JUMPED on my warp 😭
@KellyCasanova2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes, cats love warps 😆
@kellyfazekas78314 жыл бұрын
Why do you have bits of thread tied off along the heddle? If they have a purpose you've discussed in a prior video, I've missed that one.
@KellyCasanova4 жыл бұрын
They are markers so that I don't have to count and recount slots when warping 😊
