Thanks for the tip! As a side project you could also piggy back off of that wiring and install USB ports in between those 2 outlets.

Worked great to fix my 2011 F250 SD too - thanks!

Thanks for posting this. My LED popped out as well, but don't worry if that happens, it appears designed to pop out rather than snap a wire. it was easy to put back in.

Thank you for the tip! I needed to see this as I had thought I had broken the outlet in our 2013 Ford Explorer...and was dreading removing the center console to get to it. Your video helped me rethink the situation and I had it fixed and put back together in less than five minutes!!!

On a slightly different topic, hope you can help: how can I plug into the outlets in my ford f-150 while keeping the gate up and locked, and the roll down cover closed & locked while powering my airstream camper ( sleeping or gone for the day) . Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That works but it's only a temporary fix do they sell one that doesn't have a design flaw?

2019 super duty has this issue from day one. Is there a replacement face that has the ground connection even if it isn't used? Would hold stuff better.

Unfortunately I don't think so. Just one of the parts ford decided to cheap out on.

Now put a couple tiny rubber bands made for childrens braces around each connector, squeezing them together, or a day later you’ll have the same problem. 😉

Where is the actual power inverter for this located. I did your fix and replace the connector and nothing?

Has anyone repaired the rear outlet on a F-250, I can't get into the outlet
@SeanAlegator5 жыл бұрын
Wait theres no ground prong connection in the outlet
@rcobourn15 жыл бұрын
I mean, where would the ground go? To have a real ground, your car would have to have a strap connecting it to an earth ground, and you wouldn't get very far. :) Fortunately, having a ground other than the neutral in this circumstance wouldn't be of any benefit, so it doesn't matter.

You skipped over the most important part. That is separating the box. It looks like you edited that part out because, when you pried the unit out, the next thing you showed the was box apart. It can't come apart by prying the whole unit out. In fact, it's a little tricky. You have to press some tabs. It's a bit of a puzzle. You pry the unit out as you showed. Then you disconnect the connector and only then can you take the box apart by pressing on tabs on the box itself . In your video, the box seemed to suddenly and magically be apart. :-)

such crap. plug wears out so fast. after about 4 or 5 uses its done. really frustrating.

If you're not plugging it carefully then it could damage it

Find an unobtrusive power strip (a small black one from Fry's Electronics works for me), plug it into the outlet, and never remove it. Secure with Velcro strips. Problem solved, and multiple outlets is very useful. Just be sure to observe the max load on the outlet. Kids can get carried away back there trying to juice up their gaming laptops. :)
