What if the 2 wires that are disconnect are different. the cord that runs my telephone and internet from inside my house to the box outside, then runs under ground. it was unearthed and looks like it connects to the black cable wire your showing in this video. But it was broke, I'm guessing by dogs. So one wire is a pink telephone wire with the colorful smaller wires no ground shield, and the other is the black with the ground shield. I'm trying to temp fix till a tech comes out in 2 weeks.

Could I use the 12 pair splice kit for a 25 pair? I would really like to avoid a resin encapsulated splice. It's only like 0.10 inches bigger, how much wiggle room do these have?

I don't think so. The diameter is a bit bigger. By remembering the size of everything I think there's a way to make it fit but it would be really snug and may not work, I'll have to try it someday. Wish they made a 25 pair.

@@DiscountLowVoltage I'm pretty sure you guys sell a shielded 25 pair direct bury telephone cable. I believe that's what I saw on your website, you guys seem to be the only company that deals with this heavy stuff that still has customer service. Anyone else I call and they ask what city I work for 😂

Thats great, but what if the wires are laying in a ditch, and they run opposite each other with a 4 or 5 inch gap between?

Also make sure you ground both sides

Then use two, duh. Find me one splice kit that spans a 2 foot gap, bet you can't.

Good instructional video. Let me ask cause I noticed that the black coating of the wire above the silver shield is always in a melting state that connected to the telephone box at the outsise of my house. What is causing that? Thanks for your advice.

Chemical reaction, or the 'icky' flooding gel in the icky-pic (underground drop wire) leaking and/or flowing somehow.
