Hey man, this is great. You can tell not too many people talk about repairing these. I’ve got several pair around so now that I’m getting closer to retirement after 50 years as a licensed building contractor I think I’ll start repairing them. I’m going to finish watching your video now and I hope you address how to make sure the steel or the weld is hardened

Thanks! This is really good information! Of course, I'd never blow out my cutters. Especially by cutting on live wire. It's for a friend. 😂

Well, if you are an electrician, cutting better than they did probably wouldn’t be good enough. But I sure do appreciate your putting this up and you’re inspiring people to take it and run with it. I’m already thinking of making a jig so that you can run the Dremel or the grinder very precisely so that when you’re done, it’s super straight, super sharp. I think One would have to treat this like a meditative practice on the weekend or something.

I wish you the best of luck, When I retired I sharpen drill bits repair large tools (table saw, miter saws, ). It keeps me just busy enough to get me out of the chair and earn a little

I appreciate your efforts. I always wondered if it could be done. Moral of the story is, time is money. If you really need this tool to work, by a new set. Again, thanks for you effort. 🙏

It's when you have time and like me you have four pairs sitting in a drawer, heck fix them

I understand your legitimate point of view my friend Time is money, in construction. I am a journeyman, electrician plus I’ve been a license, builder for 50 years, In this day and age of waste it is critical, that we recycle, reuse, repurpose. If we’re concerned about handing our children and their children, a planet, that is not worn out and piled higher with waste. If one does not have the time like this gentleman that commented, then maybe turn them into someone that would fix them?

Make sure to temper the cutting area with heat and oil quenching or else the cutting surfaces will easily nick.

I was wondering about that. been out of town and will try to finish and then try heat treating them Thanks

I'm glad to share what little tidbits I've picked up over the years. Your casement and sash window construction videos are going to be helping me real soon. I'm happy to show my appreciation in my own small way.

You can buy a pair of Pittsburg 8" lineman pliers at Harbor Fright for $5.99.

That takes away the fun of fixing several pairs cutters that are sitting in my tool box for 20 something years
