Learn how to repair broken concrete. Repair and fix broken, cracked, chipped or spalled concrete for your driveway, patio, porch or sidewalk.
I'm showing you how to use Rapid Set's Concrete Mix to repair this broken concrete patio deck.
This fast setting concrete repair mix works very good for fixing broken concrete and being able to walk on it in only an hour.
We repaired this damaged concrete entry patio and wheelchair ramp in one day and re-opened it for use the next day.
If you want to learn how to repair concrete, pour and finish concrete, stamp concrete and much more, check out The Concrete Underground below.

This is so lovely - we have a well done, but very aged 30 year old driveway. Cost to demo and replace are in excess of $30k. Just totally unaffordable for the average person. Appreciate seeing repair work!

This is what quality work looks like from someone who knows concrete and its proper application. Many local "concrete" guys slap anything down, with no prep and nmo understanding of how it works leading to wasted time and money. Great work!!!

I've never used the quick set concrete before. I normally use a topping sand mix. I've had better luck wetting the old place first. Some places I clean with muriatic acid first. My hardest repairs is fault lines. It'll keep cracking. I run a diamond saw through the repair where the expansion joint normally falls, but was never cut. I use a vinyl mix to top older work in good shape to give it that new look. It wears off after a few years. I try to avoid salt on icy sidewalks. That's what eats them up the worst even though many salts claim it doesn't attract concrete. I think they all do.

@5400bowen
@5400bowen 14 күн бұрын
@@PappyNet01 maybe you can buy a work truck, maintain it, buy $10,000 worth of tools, maintain them and keep them safe from thieves..spend a half hour on the phone and a half to one hour driving to the job, $5-$10 worth of fuel, another half hour greeting and discussing the repair with the client,15 minutes doing the repair, then another 1/2 to one hour and $5-$10 in fuel going back...and charge $60 an hour (at which point the client says "GEE! I wish I (could spend $20 an hour on overhead) could make $60 an hour!!". 1/4 hour of work...yeah, $15 to spend two hours and minimum $10 in fuel...let's see you do that! We tradesmen are sick to death of lame clients who can't put two screws back in their cabinet door, make enough to own a building, and expect us to take a loss on our time and resources to convince said lame clients we aren't ripoffs. Lets see you drive all day between 15-30 minute jobs at your present rate of pay...and not get paid for any of the driving time, or time communicating with clients...they all think we have one cheapy screwdriver and a hammer and we can do all their miniscule tasks for the hourly while only charging for the 5 minutes it takes to put the two screws back in that they are too lame to reinstall. Wake up...and take remedial English.

Yea mate great video , we do the same thing down-under , but always wet down the ground or bed of old concrete first before troweling the mix in , so the dryness doesn’t suck the moisture out of the mix too early , like ordinary cement.

Both the blue (CementAll) and brown (Mortar Mix) have sand in them, the blue is simply a much finer sand, it also has a slightly higher proportion of cement. I like RapidSets products, even without stone as an abrogate the CementAll gets quite strong, 9,000 PSI, and can work well for a lot of things. The RapidSet line was actually developed out of an Air Force need for rapid runway repairs and it delivers those fast and strong repairs to this day. While each advertise a 15 minute work time that can be restricted or expanded by temp; the set control buys about 20 minutes per baggie, up to 4/55 lb bag, and flow control is also available to thin things out without adding more than 5 qts of water per 55 lb bag. I’ve used CementAll with flow control for years as a concrete resurfacer and have never had an issue with it popping off, and that’s in NY; just make sure things are well hydrated and clean of any dust, grease, etc. and if you want you can also use a bonding agent, which can help with older concrete.

The painting company I used to work for used the blue and yellow for stucco repairs and texture on million-plus dollar homes, never had a call back. I've watched a little bit of Mike Haduck Masonry and he uses the brown as a medium concrete on stuff like porches or sidewalks. I think you nailed it with your explanations.

The one thing that you forgot to do is to wet the area where you pouring the concrete , And you need to wet it not once but twice. As you know concrete curing is a chemical reaction. If you pour concrete on a dry surface, the surface will suck the water out of the concrete preventing it from properly curing, thus preventing the new concrete from properly bonding to the old.

Tidy end result... for now. As a DIYer, even I noticed straight away a rookie error that the sub material hadn't been made wet, which compromises the bond between the old and new. Were they were following some off the wall instruction specific to that product? Seems unlikely.
