What would be the suggested route if we are trying to reinitialize a drive that has data on it, that has crashed but is healthy ? Repairing would cause it to erase the data from what I am understanding.. thanks

Unfortunately when that has happened for me I've had to format the drive on a computer then put it back into the NAS and hope it rebuilds the raid. Sometimes I've had to rebuild the entire raid when this has happened to me (I have a external drive I back everything upto)

Hi. Great video. I have the same issue, as I pulled out a HDD while it was running. I have data on that drive. If I deactivate the drive, would DSM be able to rebuild the erased data since I am running SHR? (it has data protection for one drive fault tolerance). Thanks.

yes this instruction was usefull for me, but before my Synology NAS showed me, that there is insufficient disk space for repair ... so I deactivated HDD and switch off my NAS, after switsch on when I clicked on fix it everything was ok as in this video ... just now I´m waitting 10 hours ;-)

@@welshtony1 I hope so too, but I had a similar situation 2 months ago, then I had it repaired right away and everything was fine. As for video topics, I would welcome disk migrations from other Synology NAS, especially for disks that show degradation. Furthermore, a comprehensive video on how to make the most of Synology NAS (your own mail server, web, cloud, etc.), and a VPN solution in relation to Android 13, because Android 13 only has the IKEv2/IPSec protocol, which is not present in Synology NAS, it was possible it would be possible to solve it via OpenVPN, but I can't solve it, because it keeps saying looking up DNS. I think there are a lot of unsolved situations in the foundation and Synology is not keeping pace very well. Anyway, I have another problem and the other Synology NAS DS415+ has stopped responding today, power is flashing blue when turned on, status is off, and other lights are orange all the time. Nothing happens at all. Do you have any recommendations please? I couldn't find anything concrete about this on Synology's website. Could it be a broken motherboard? Thank you in advance for your reply
