The comment about grace notes is on point. There's a cleaner way of repetition, and it's done by finger change. I recommend listening to German Diaz who mastered the technique. Not saying it's better! But for many contemporary compositions it sounds better. Also there's phrasing by means of changing the turning of wheel, but it has less usability.

The way I teach my music theory students is movable do based minor. This is how I was taught also. So a natural minor scale(aeolian based) would be Do Re Me Fa So Le Te Do.

Quick question on this: wouldn't cuts (lifting the finger from the current note for about the length of a tap) and stops (stopping the wheel for about the length of a top) also be feasible ways to repeat notes?

Since we can't see your fingers, I'm going to guess that you're holding down the note you want to repeat and just lightly tapping the note above it?

In English its called using "grace notes"

Europe and proper music schools, teach notes with the whole names Do, Re, Mi, Fa etc....
