You just pop the retainer fork out so there's no need to contend with unscrewing the hydraulic line.

Those things are impossible to get out at that angle, much easier to unscrew line

Interesting approach to take out the Clutch Master Cylinder! I did this job once a bit differently (removing the master brake cylinder, which was kind of an overkill), but I think your method is much easier. My question is: how flexible is the metal clutch line when you pulled out the Clutch Master from that corner "pocket" above the wheel? Did you have a feeling it would break? Did you have to remove the metal clutch line from the plastic clips/brackets on the frame firewall? And finally how difficult was it to fit the replaced Clutch master back into the proper location, with the setup you had you probably attached the line fitting before placing the Clutch master cylinder back into the corner "pocket" and also you need to target the two bolt holes and the pushrod in the middle, so three things need to be aligned and you had the brake booster in the way, very confined space. How hard was it to manipulate this?

it doesn’t feel like the line is going to break at all it’s completely fine

How did you get access to the master cylinder when the wheel was removed with that metal piece completely blocking it

Just pull it out like there’s nothing to it, just a lil bit of wiggling your hand and visualizing success

What are the reasons to change these peaces? I’m having problems with my civic 2001, the pedal clutch is making a strange noise and it’s getting hard to change the velocidades, are these the reasons?

Does anyone here know: if you don't have a bench vice and bleeder kit, what's the alternative? Can you bleed the master once it's in situ? Also, if you can't get the flare nut off the hard line of the master cylinder, can you just remove that holding pin to get the hard line off? Thx.

All I want to know if where you got the container where the hose goes in the bottom on one end and the top on the other, I can’t tell if that goes in the top of that or if it’s squeezed onto a nipple on the other side

hey brother, great video. I'm stuck as hell trying to get the master loose from the firewall. there is a metal cup looking piece welded to the wheel well that butts up against the back of the cylinder. Any thoughts on how to get around it? got an 05 Civic like yours

Michael T can you take a picture of it and post it? I'm not exactly sure of what you're talking about. The only struggle I had when taking off the master cylinder from the firewall was from the metal cable getting stuck on the body frame, so I had to push the master cylinder down and pull. Hopefully that helps.

sorry can't take a pic now. I ended up taking a driver to push it threw from the inside of the car. Thanks for the reply.

I just bought a new clutch master ctylinder from from Honda and it wiggles like your old one. It's a genuine part never been used is that normal ? That little arm thing moves
@ladawg1
@ladawg1 7 жыл бұрын
yeah that's normal for it to move around. it's got a spherical ball on the inside that lets it move around

Next time.. please don't add the background music. The volume went very high on music parts and blasted my speakers. I had to keep adjusting my volume because when you would talk again, the audio was very low and I could barely hear you. This is a guy video... we don't care about that special effects shit, just show us how to do the job.

Is this the same procedure for a hybrid? I have a 2003 Civic Hybrid 1.3cyl

I'm about to try on an '05 hybrid. Hopefully this is the same. In case anyone's reading this in the future: nope. At least my 2005 Civic Hybrid is different. The slave cylinder is quite difficult to get to without removing coolant & A/C lines, at least if you're accessing it from above. I didn't want to keep crawling under the car for the whole process anyways. Have to take off the whole air intake manifold, as well as pull the battery, then there's just enough space for one hand to reach down and get a small wrench on the bleeder valve of the slave. If you're planning to replace the slave: good luck. As for the master, it's behind a metal shroud. Without removing the brake reservoir (which I didn't even want to consider), you could either grind out that metal shroud so you can access the clutch master cylinder from the wheel well area, or, as I've been attempting (so far unsuccessfully due to the seized flare nut on the hard line), reach in with your left hand holding both the 17mm & 10mm and attempt to back out the flare nut one-handed. In short: it's a nightmare.

you can barely see this stuff with your own eyes - I personally had to use mirrors and remove parts in order to see what I was doing; I think he did a great job with the camera. You will agree if you try to do this yourself, or at least try to identify and observe on your own car.

it's a miracle you can document any of this shit for youtube. It's hard enough to see at all, much less show what you are doing. I don't think I could do much better and I am an amateur film maker, it's a completely different ballgame filming when you are working on a car. I think he did fine. I would like to see you do better, just my $0.02 it's one thing when you're 1AAUTO and you have a whole team and fancy equipment, just sayin'
