Very nice! I would recommend to use longer roofing nails when nailing back. That will insure the nail secures into the stud. Using the same nail could work its way back out. Thanks again for the video!

Great video. I just started the buying process of a home with some damaged vinyl siding. Home inspection coming soon, but not sure if it will be something the seller will repair/replace. Your video made it look doable by showing how to remove, identify the color and replace. I'm actually looking forward to trying your technice out. Thanks a million.

siding is usually hooked pretty tightly together. you can unlock/remove it this way, but after you do this a couple of times your fingers will hurt. If your working on your own sided home, buy the tool... many repairs will be needed over time.

will this work if the piece you are replacing / fixing is attached to the starting strip? I think part of my starting strip has either come off or maybe wood rot on the sheathing, its a very short spot but its close to the ground and I want to keep the rodents from having access.

Hi, I'm hoping for some advice. I need to paint and caulk our porch floor. I want remove only the bottom corse and the j channl to paint and caulk right up to the original wall because unfortunately, the porch is over the basement and falls toward the house so any water or melted snow pools and leaks in to the basement. Once I get it sealed I need to insulate it because there's only the tung and groov flooring between the out side weather and the basement. This isn't good when it's -10°f out side.

I needed to order some replacement pieces of siding on my 20 yr old house and called the original installers who told me I needed to bring a sample b/c they couldn’t match the color from a pic I sent. You just saved me an hour and a half trip by telling me the name of the siding or number is printed on it. Now WHY didn’t they tell me that? I found your video because I wanted to know how to safely remove a piece to take to them. Thanks!

Is there any way to fix a bottom piece of siding that slipped 1/4" or so, pops loose on windy days, and won't securely snap into place anymore without having to rip the siding off a 5-year old, 2-story house? I've tried Loose Siding Fasteners, but I'm not sure if the siding only needs to grip the fasteners. The siding definitely won't snap the entire length. I believe it's the second or third panel from the bottom. Dutch lap. Certainteed.

Is it recommended to use. Silicon at the seams
@woodstream6137
@woodstream6137 Жыл бұрын
No. When the vinyl siding is nailed into the center of those slots, there should be a gap so the nail head isnt flush with the backer. This allows the siding to slide in the nail flange as it contracts and expands. Any water that gets behind the siding is supposedly going to find its way down. That is why it's important to have a house wrap protecting your wood. If you silicon the seams, it may not slide and could cause buckling.
