I bought a 2002 325 xi for my daughter as a commuter car. I’m pretty much got the car for nothing but from the get go I had all kinds of issues. I was able to get most of the work done by a friend of mine who is a mechanic. After all the work was done I noticed that the left rear window regulator was shot. I search the Internet and came upon your video I followed your steps and was able to replace The regulator with no problems. Thank you for putting up with these Videos to help now there’s people like me to save a little bit of pocket change. Thank you

Pocket change? Shit they quoted me $130 to replace my rear window regulator i said hell with that and found this video and did it my self!

Thanks Brian - great help. Help Note to all: When I removed the 8mm nut securing the window bracket to the regulator, the retaining nut fell out. I did not notice at first so be aware there is one.

Thank you so much i was tryna figure out how to remove that clip that the window sits on that holds it in place to go up and down i was stumped...lmao guess i just wasent paying enough attention! Thanks again man

You don't need to take off the 8mm screw from the window in order to take the window off the regulator. Just loosen it and press the plastic clip the screw goes into when moving the window off the regulator mount. Also you don't need to remove the rubber trim at the top of the door as the author recommended to remove the window regulator. You will save yourself some time by keeping the screw loose but in place...

Thanks for posting, very well explained. Just a comment - If your window is jammed you can also cut the cable with a snip, once you do this you can push it up and access the bolt for removing the bad regulator.

Stay away from BMWs. I replaced all 4 window regulators. I had to become a mechanic because my BMW 325xi broke so much. If I had to pay a mechanic to fix all the problems, it would have cost over $15,000. As it stands, I have paid over $2500 in parts and $250 for special tools to fix this piece of garbage. Window regulators ( $1200-$1500 if you let a mechanic do it) Vanos, oil separator, coolant expansion tank, themostat, water pump, valve cover gasket, control arms, starter, fuel pump, DISA, Axle, etc. etc. etc. , etc, etc, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Chuck Chung you almost have a new car now! Lol! I've done a few of those items as well. Did the driver side regulator two years ago and now the passenger side needs done as of today on my 330i. I also have a 330ci. Love these cars and love the driving experience. All in all its the easiest car I ever owned to work on. It came be a pain but for the most part mine has been pretty reliable. The worst job I ever did on it was the oil separator. Looked it up online and most people stated it was like a 9 out of 10 for difficulty. Most said the would rather do a clutch job. If possible I would have given that job an 11 out of 10 on difficulty. I thought I was going to kill somebody! Lol!

Chuck Chung owned many....loved them too. 1979 HONDA CVCC, 1981 Honda Accord Hatch, 1990 Civic Hatch, 1981 Accord Hatch, 1980 Prelude, 1990 Acura Integra, 2001 Isuzu Rodeo, 1994 Accord Coupe, 1990 Subaru Legacy. I worked at a Honda garage for 9 years. From age 14-22. Loved every day!
