So obviously this video is a how-to on replacing the shifter or shift peg on a motorcycle. I did this video on my 2005 Suzuki SV650s. Im not familiar with the process on other bikes but I would imagine that it shouldn't be too much different. Anyways I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions or comments through them below.

Thank you bro. My clutch shifter broke so now the little black piece is in my pocket. Just ordered a new one and wasn’t sure how I’d do it. This gave me a W 🙌🏽

Appreciate the demo but that speed towards the end was very annoying. So thanks for showing me what I need to do to take it off. I couldn't tell you how this video ended. But thanks

Thank you. This video was helpful. When I got my 2009 Yamaha R6S, I was a little frustrated by the lack of repair videos for it. Although some details were different, your video was good about giving general ideas that helped me with my bike. Thanks again. As a hint, the loooooong bar on my bike has flat parts that I can secure a wrench onto to remove the shifter more easily. It's designed so that rotating the bar will either tighten the screws on both sides, or loosen the screws on both sides. (I think the technical term is that the shifter has a left-handed thread.)

You are...a cinema...I could watch you forever...Oh wait...sorry, chipmunk mode had me thinking about that song (Yes, I do understand the order), nice vid...it's probably relatively similar for most bikes I would think though.

When I took the doodad off, the thingie came off with it. Taking the thingie off the doodad was a pain. I kept twisting the bar whatchamacallit, but the doodad kept hitting the other thing. But I got it fixed. Thank you!

Just changed mine after a fall...I was mad worried at first but this is the easiest thing to do. Just something I'd like to add...mine had loctite on the main screw. So I bought some at Home Depot and applied it before putting it back in.

I have a 2012 750 and I have ridden an 04 r6. obviously the technology has changed in recent years but none the less the jump from a 600cc engine to a 750 is very noticeable. Personal assumption would be that the new 750 to the new R6 the 750 would be better because its the frame of a 600cc but with the extra 150cc worth of power. And personally I dont like the feel of an R6... too aggressive of a forward lean and stiff seat, I love my 750... I shopped and there was a reason for buying the 750

Hi thanks for posting your video. I was looking for some information regarding the gear shift lever on the motorcycle. Is there any way to make the gear shift lever higher or lower with regards to the footpeg? The bike in question is a 2009 Yamaha FZ1. Thank you very much sir.

So my shifter lever also bent, and when I was trying to bend it back, I also bent the shifter rod that is connected to the bottom. I'm wondering if I can bend it back (I mean a matter of if I should bend it back) or buy a new rod. It's not super bent. I find it hard to pay $20 shipping for a $5 OEM part.

I've got an 03 sv650 ordered a lever from amazon that specified fitment on my bike, issue is that the oem one has a thin bushing that allows it to rotate freely once the assembly is tightened. The new lever fits but locks up once you tighten the assembly. any help on this issue would be deeply appreciated.

If this happens to anyone use threadlock sealant and tighten the bolt as much as u can that still allows movement.

I changed the tie-rod assembly and readjusted the height of my shifter lever on a 2014 Kawa Ninja 300 and have the same problem as Dav1es92 below who stated: "Hi, I changed just the selector arm itself but for some reason if I try to select a gear with the engine on my bike cuts out , anybody have any ideas what this problem could be , anything I could of missed that's causing this fault , is there another part I need to change, my bike is on 03 reg" I followed several excellent videos on this subject and can see no errors. Bike remained in neutral before and after the changes. I could shift if from neutral down to first and back up to neutral with the same travel and clicking as before so that I was confident I was in first and neutral. However, after starting in neutral, when I shifted into first, engine cuts out. I would be grateful for a solution.

You should put lock-tite on these bolts.
@mathieusan
@mathieusan 8 жыл бұрын
+Mat I'd clean everything with brake cleaner first (especially in the thread on both and socket, where the loctite will be applied), let it dry fully so no chemical from the brake cleaner can react with the loctite, then apply grease in the bearing of the shifter bolt while being careful not to grease in the threads of the bolt. Then put loctite only on the threads, just before assembling the bolt in its socket (amount recommended by the type you buy, not more). Tighten that bolt not long after you install everything back. Let it dry for 24h so loctite gets hard.

When I posted my oil change video, I mostly relied on editing. I tried the one-hand method when I could. When I couldn't, I just said, "What I edited out was...". I think users get the idea. I was concerned that a tripod would be too far away to be effective. I used a GoPro, and it doesn't zoom.
