Another mechanic said that they build these engines the way they do based mainly on what design is the cheapest to assemble, they are not thinking about labor costs for fixing things later.

There may be a leak in the cooling system. Use a cooling system pressure tester to find the leak

Just for future ppl with the same issue. Believe it or not it is possible to get an air pocket inside the coolant system. B4 going to spend any money on parts buy a 5 dollar over flow funnel (canister shape with lid and hose attachment) or use a 2 liter bottle and some duct tape to make a good seal and set in your radiator or reservoir for those with no radiator cap and all you do is crank the vehicle and constantly keep the coolant level higher than the top of the tank/radiator (half way or so up the funnel or bottle and maintain the level careful not to let it go below to allow more air in. The coolant should start to move up and down as the engine warms up. That will be how u will kno if u have air in the system. You'll do this until the thermostat opens up and chugs the coolant. Finish adding the proper amount for your specific vehicle and voila, then put your cap back on and you're done. Small tip to keep from making a mess most of the time there will still be coolant left in the container. A semi long screw driver or other skinny object and a rag to push down in the funnel or bottle neck since it'll be cut off from the middle to keep from the coolant rushing out all over your paint, battery area etc. I had never heard of such a thing as burping a coolant system or heard of anyone with this issue and I'm about to make 30 in a cou pl e months but sure enough my 2005 chevy tahoe did this out of nowhere whenever it felt like it. Would run hot and had even blew a hole in my hose. That was my sign more than a thermo. or pump. Lastly ano tr her new piece of info I didnt know that the coolant will need free space inside the tank to allow expansion 🤯 so no more buying a jug of 50/50 and filling until she pukes as my grandad used to tell me when we would be working on one together. Hope this helps someone in need. NOTE** I am not an expert, liscensed mechanic, or anything pertaining to needless to say yes its possible I'm wrong on something somewhere along the line. Use a screwdriver to loosen up the hoses. Then pull it hard. Make sure all the mounting bolts are removed

Some people have taken the front 2 engine mounts off and tilted the engine forward to reach them. Whatever works

@@LewsSpeedShop on another video shows another round gasket for the thermostat because I did it the same way as you did without the the round thick gasket and i got a small leak in there

It cleared the check engine light, no overheating

I found this on the internet. Hope it helps. The thermostat is on the right side of the engine when facing the engine from the front(drivers side). It is under the air duct. It is a difficult job to replace, you must remove the duct, the air cleaner housing, and the black pipe above the thermostat housing so you can get your hands at the bolts. Even though the housing is slotted, the bottom bolt must be removed

Guy Azbell it’s because the manufacturers know their products are so long-lived (comparatively to those from the 50s/60s) that they won’t sell as many, which has an effect on the service side at the dealers as well: the sensors make all sorts of work for mechanics while being (environmentally) within the laws. All of this means profits/dividends for shareholders.
