Just changed mine. A LOT easier to jack up front car, take passenger side tire off. loosen subframe on passenger front, drop (don't unhook) ac compressor, wiggle out alternator from bottom. Completely bypass taking out fans, etc, this way.

I recently did one this same way as well, on a lift One thing I would advise others is to somehow gain access to the alternator connections, from the top. There is no slack in the wires, so it'll be very difficult to try and disconnect them from the bottom with the way the alternator is positioned and how tight the space is With the subframe and AC compressor lowered, front mount nut removed, belt tensioner removed, and everything else miscellaneous moved out of the way, the alternator comes out with little effort

Remember that its illegal to discharge your ac in the open air. So hold your breath and make sure nobody's watching.

Don't need to disconnect ac lines. Just loosen one bolt from subframe and you get clearance to remove alternator and remaining bolts

Just completely remove the ac compressor all together!!! It’s makes the job so much easier

@cometogetherlikevoltron1230 yup I ended up getting to from down below. Removed the ac compressor which was a nightmare like everything else and it was REAL tight lol. Not sure if that job was worse than the high pressure power steering line with no lift! On my back for hours 🤪

@@joshuabarr6511 I did the lowering the ac compressor by loosening the sub frame and it still was a nightmare. If I ever do it again I will just completely remove the compressor and get it out the way. Recharging the ac system is still better then fighting with those ac lines. They where all in the way

Hey Jules. Just finished the test drive. Everything went well. Thanks again for your video. - The trick for holding back the tensioner with a bolt worked great! - I didn't have to open the AC Lines, I got it out without discharging the lines, save some $$. - Showing how to burp the radiator when I refilled it worked great. Thanks again!! Im Subscribing. Got any video for changing the Dog Bone motor mount on the passenger side? That's next weekends task. Randy

While I want to give you shit for some of these bolt sizes that I swear you made up (😂😂), this video saved my ass when I couldn’t get the new alternator to fit!!! That stupid ass washer thing was half out and I hadn’t noticed!! Thank you very very much for taking the time to make this video, it was very helpful and allowed me to see what I’d be getting into before doing it.

If changed lots of alternators . Nissan did not want you changing this one of the most inconvenient alternators I have changed in any car

Now see u should have told US REGULAR SMEGULAR people that when and if u discharge the AC line u would need to make sure u had an freon Charger available (which can only be purchased by a licensed mechanic) to charge your AC back up.... If you follow this tutorial verbatim u will see how to discharge your AC compressor is merely stated but not shown step by step on how to do so, which now i understand why. So DO NOT DECOMPRESS YPUR AC LINE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A FREON CHARGER. YOU WILL BE HOT AF Until u take it to a mechanic and let them charge you for something you could have avoided. Other than that dude this is a good video. Just screwed myself when I decompressed my AC line....

That's not the correct way to diagnose a Alternator. The car will cut off because the CPU lost power

Your car runs off of the alternator once it is running. The CPU as you call it will still have power if the alternator is working. I don't suggest doing what he did due to voltage spikes, but it used to be industry standard before the cars were filled with sensitive electronics.
