cheers mate, trap for new players including BMW dealership who have serviced since new, while they have replaced the under bonnet filters, the filter in the glove box was the original according to the date stamp on the filter and filthy

My 2012 x3 xdrive20i doesn't have glove box air filter. Is this normal?

You have to have ATC in your X3 for it to have the cabin air filter in the glovebox. This BMW X3 has ATC and that stands for Automatic Temperature Control.

I just watched the other video for the 2013 X3. Are there two filter locations on the X3?

Yes but not all of them came with both filter options. It is good to check your vehicle before purchasing the filters. The part numbers are AQ1234C and AQ1239

Yes glove box and next to passenger wiper. My 2011 had both. The underhood filter is the worst design I've ever seen. Good job,Munich 👍...

Except the filter housing doesn't come off anyway I can do it. tried using pliers, screwdriver to pry it off. Nothing, instructions are not very good, doesn't just pop off.

This installation is for the BMW X3 that has ATC and that stands for Automatic Temperature Control. If you do not have a housing door in the glove box then your vehicle did not come with this option.

I think what he means is the filter cover does not come off. I have the same issue here. Did you just push the two parts of the cover and it just falls off?

@@sandwich4997 I finally opened it. The instructions in the video are correct. I cannot open the cover because the service guy installed the cover in reverse. So what I did was use a screwdriver to force it out. That did hurt the cover a little bit, but it worked. Then I installed the cover in the right way, which is way easier to take out. Hope this helps.

Some BMW X3s did not come with this option so if there is not door then it will not be there. The door it self should open fairly easily. Use a flashlight if you are having trouble.
