Just bought the Optimil handles, pricey but they are such good quality. Like you say changing your handles is the easiest way of getting away from everyone else with a defender being able to open yours. I had a second hand fuel cap pulled out of a random parts box in a store room and it’s key also fitted my door locks🙄🙄

Just fitting them now, not even close to being a straight swap with the originals, having to get the Dremel out and make the hole bigger.🙄🙄

Grey shirt or pale colour of your choice . Are metal ones more prone to freezing, have to get deicer on my Puma ones to open during winter months after early starts or late shifts. Would love LED headlights but seing how the snow sticks to my light bar has put me off. I see a couple of heated headlights are available perhaps you could look at these.

I have the Exmoor Trim handles and they are brilliant. Although the plunger can freeze or stick when pressed below -10°c 🇳🇴 I did manage to scratch the paint using grips to pull it out again. Should probably lube them with something more suitable before the autumnal

I heard that wasting good whiskey and pouring some onto the assembly can stop it freezing in very low temperatures!

Enjoying the videos! I am rebuilding my 110 van and am looking for spare wheel storage options. Clearly I could go for swing away carriers etc and would be good to see options but was contemplating storing in the back against the side panel. It would be good to know if there was any options to do this even if you need to cut out the tub sides.

The issue you have is having something strong enough to mount the wheel to. The best and safest solution would be to fit an internal roll bar at the back, strengthened through to the chassis at the wheel box. Then you could simply weld a rear door wheel carrier bracket onto it. Early Defender pickups had the wheel carrier bolt mounted to the bulkhead. Another good option and one you could relocate to the capping on the side of the van inside at the back.

Love the video’s. With the exposed handle and lock could someone just smash the door handle off to bypass the lock ? I’m assuming there’s something to stop it being that easy. Keep up the good work and a green t-shirt I think 😊

Possibly. But it would be easier to smash the window and reach in. Such are the limitations of Defender security!
