Is it possible to replace mic using heatgun or will it ruin the mic? I tried and cannot get it to work with heatgun. Maybe once after many times... but newer phones also have a hole on the bottom and flux gets there.

@@taneltomson2179 someone on YT scratched ground pad, put soldering iron with solder blob as to heat area around the mic and it could be removed and soldered. Tried it, swapped, but in the process I somehow killed the phone... so no luck :)

To better transfer heat. The goal is to desolder the microphone chip without ruining it or anything else, so he needs to localize heat near the microphone so that it can desolder, but not heat up to where it is ruined. There is a copper ground plane under the green material (it's part of how multilayer circuit boards work). By scraping/exposing the copper near the microphone, then adding a blob of solder (increases surface area when pulling heat from his soldering tip), he creates a nearby heat-sink to pump heat into the copper, which then radiates out, including to the microphone solder.
