Thank you so much for this video. Dyson service centre wanted to charge me a motor replacement but I felt something wasn’t right about their diagnostic. I saw your video and it’s exactly what was wrong with my V10 Dyson. I can’t believe how they wanted to charge me a new motor just to make more money. I’m glad I saw your video. It saved me so much money. 👍👍👍😀😀😀

Awesome video! I actually called Dyson about this issue (Aug 2024) and even though my warranty expired in DEC 2020, I said it was a manufacture defect and that it’s a known issue. The representative sent me a new main body and cyclone free of charge. This was after I was told my warranty expired - it’s all about wording and saying it’s a known manufacturer defect. Hope this helps anyone else out there who has also spent a good amount on a quality vacuum, that has some parts that need better engineering. Overall, I’m still very happy with my Dyson, and I’ll be able to have two batteries now with new body that’s coming in.

Great video! The instructions were spot on and gave me the confidence to do the trigger replacement. I would not have dreamed of dong this without the detailed instructions. I had extreme difficulty removing the Phillips case screws - especially the battery screw. I had to use a lot of strength to slowly unscrew them, sometimes a quarter turn or less while pressing hard to make sure the tip was seated in the screw. The Dyson screws are crap and are easily damaged. Fortunately, the kit I purchased included replacement Phillips and torx screws. I found removing the white connector easy by just using my finger nail to pry it up. It pops up and out and snaps back in easily. Thanks again for the detailed instructions. It saved me a lot of money in repairs.

Excellent video. It was absolutely invaluable in getting through this rather arduous DIY repair/replacement procedure. So thanks very much! If you don't mind, I wanted to pass along a couple of observations that might be helpful to anyone planning to attempt this. First, the circuit board in my V11 was covered with a thin semi-transparent layer of what appeared to be silicon caulk. I had to scrape off the material in order to remove the torque screws as well as to disconnect the small wire connector. Second, the only part of this video that caused a little confusion for me was in disconnecting that small wire from the PCB. In watching the video, I thought it was the black wire that needed to be removed. It's actually the small thin red wire that is almost hidden by the black wire in the video. The black wire is soldered to the PCB. Fortunately I realized my mistake before doing any damage. Third, for me the hardest step by far in the entire replacement procedure was sliding the two terminals and the thin red wire back through the removable cover in the handle. The opening in that cover is very narrow and very tight and it took me nearly ten minutes and a fair amount of cursing to pull the three wires through. But once that was completed, the rest was all downhill. Thanks again for this very helpful video!

Thanks so much for creating this very detailed step-by-step tutorial. With your video as my guide I was able to successfully change my trigger, and changed my battery while I was at it. My Torx 8 screwdriver was not able to access the two screws holding the wire cover, but a crafty setup with a 1/4 socket wrench and Torx 8 bit I was able to get into the cylinder at a 90deg angle. For anyone attempting this, while dismantling I would highly recommend laying the screws out in circles on a piece of paper to group/label which ones are which, as they are similar but of varying lengths/thread.

Thank you, I installed a metal trigger replacement. The maker had their own video, but yours was better; more detailed and the verbal instructions were a big help. The one thing that neither video mentions is that you need to make sure the metal terminals (~9:00 into your video) do not touch each other when securely fastened. Otherwise, this was exactly the video I needed to make this fix.

Thanks. I'm about to do this for my ex's V11 (I'm guessing it's a trigger issue). I've been fixing stuff since I was a kid 55 years ago (ok, I started taking stuff apart when I was a kid, slightly older before re-assembly :) ). Back then, almost everything came with an exploded parts diagram. Now, I check YT for stuff like this. (there are still diagrams and part numbers for many things online) Ya gotta love it when manufacturers use multiple fasteners/screw heads (Phillips and Torx in this case) GUH. Nice job. Clear, concise, etc.

I saw a few other videos on this, and yours was the only one that made me think I could actually do it successfully, and I was. Hit two problems - first I had everything taken apart except the very last screw, with the tools I had, but for that one super deep screw I had to run up to Lowe's to get a long Torx screwdriver. And second, getting those two tiny screws back on was very difficult - felt like I would have benefited from a second pair of hands, and also tiny fingers. Great video, thanks for putting this together.

I need to replace my trigger, finally I found your video to show how to disassemble, now when I got to the part where you need to disconnect the wires, I realized this whole part is covered with some kind of rubber sleeve that looks like it’s been hot glued but the job is perfect so hot glue wouldn’t have done this, I just never seen a sleeve like this before. Anyways, thanks for the breakdown, appreciated. I’ll get past the cover easily. ❤

I’m a 70 year old woman, and just saved us $150 CDN by watching this video and buying a metal trigger. this is a FANTASTIC video. I got the trigger clip too, which makes vacuuming easier for someone with arthritis in their hands.

Excellent video. One of the best I have seen. Thank you. Just did the procedure today, and it went without a hitch. The crack in the trigger was exactly the same as your demo. It would be nice to have replacement screws on hand, as the phillips heads are even worse than a slot screwdiver. Robertson or Torx are the best Thank you again.
