How To Replace Sway Bar End Links (AcuraTL)

This video is about Removing some clunks from your suspension.
Quick and easy. Don't bring your car to a mechanic for this.
Cost for the Links, $114 CAD. Time in total to complete the work, 30 minutes.
This work was done on an Acura TL. After completing this work and taking the car for a drive, 90% of the clunking have gone. This means, the 10% left must be sway bar bushings.
To replace the sway bar bushings, you need to release the front end (the aluminum I had the jack stands supporting) to get to the bolt at the back. $10 in parts. It can be done on your driveway, but make sure you have some skills for this task.
Acura End Link Part number is 51321-SDA-A05
Tools:
15mm wrench
Long nose ViseGrip
15mm socket and wrench

Bro why all the other vids I watched they disassemble the whole right front to use the Allen key I was like there’s gotta be a diff way thank you very much

Yeah I’m having clunking on bumps at low speeds I’m wondering if that’s the issue I have new suspension ball joints are good so I was thinking this may be the problem

Thanks for the video! I feel like probably best to replace the bushings at the same time... since it's in the shop and all... by the way - what's the torque spec on the 15mm bushing link bolts, or does it not matter?

How do you know when the sway bars need to replaced instead the bushing?

Jack up the car to take weight off the suspension. Grab the end link and give it a shake. It wobbles, it’s bad. It’s got resistance, it’s good. But they’re cheap and easy to change in little time. If you’re going to Jack up the car anyway? Just change them. At least you did preventative maintenance and if there still a knocking noise, it’s the sway bar. Good luck!!

Great idea but the nuts were so rusted on and tight, I could not remove them. Tried every tool and technique but they are on there. So after buying the parts and the jack stands, I'm afraid it's off to the mechanic. My advice is before you invest in parts, make sure you can get them loose.

zaya hewlett im on the same boat thought maybe cutting them off with angle cutter but think injust made it worst kus it still wont come off cus of the head in the thread part dont know what to do now so frustrating

@@sanabria49er I finally gave up. My mechanic told me that they all had to be cut off with a zip gun so it made me feel a bit better. I just don't have the tools for this job unless things go smoothly.

Are these the reason why the car wobbles over bumps while you drive it when they go bad?

2rogarcia1989 if you’re car wobbles over bumps, it’s most likely because your shocks and springs are not good. They can’t absorb the bumps properly and are really floaty. End links help keep the sway bar in place but usually don’t result in a wobbly feeling ride. You will hear the clunking noise over bumps for sure. My money is on poor shocks and springs that cannot perform like new.

@@hidmagnum thanks brother,ive realized that's the problem after further inspecting it....they still don't make the noise but im sure they will in no time,so im ordering them now and hopefully replace them by the weekend

2rogarcia1989 replace them if you have to. Don’t spend money when the parts haven’t failed you. Your car is as old as mine and I simply wait for the parts to fail, then I replace. Otherwise, I drive and enjoy.

@@hidmagnum yeah im replacing the shocks and struts since thats the problem and makes driving uncomfortable with all that wobbling,but other than that it runs really smooth
