I got a 2005 vw beetle 2.0, the camshaft sensor broke. I try replacing it but the new one is touching against the fins on the sprocket. Any advice

I have a question please, my wife has a 2004 VW Jetta 2.0 and it runs good until shes drive it a good ways, then it'll stall when she has to stop. When she tries to start it back, it'll try to start but won't. After she's let's it sit and cool off for about 20 mins it'll start back up. Does that sound like a Camshaft Position Sensor, if not what do you think? I already put new Plugs, Plug Wire and a new Coil on it. Please let me know what you think. Thank You...

This and your Part 2 are excellent -- even for someone not a DIY-er but someone who wants to understand what the heck this is about....and why does the shop want $1,700 to do it? It seems very complicated, not a DIY for a mere mortal, but what should a shop (or dealer) charge to do everything you are doing? Like yours, my 2012 Tiguan's sensor was damaged by an oil leak -- at least the shop said I had an oil leak, which they did not explain how that damaged the sensor. Does this require a new timing belt? I think you showed that you bought one?? Also, if the leak is around that seal, does that mean the head gasket has to be replaced? I think the shop wanted to replace the head gasket to stop oil leak. Your leak was not from the head gasket, right?

Hii I am writing to see what the problem could be with my car. My garage is out of ideas, so i would be grateful if you could put in your views. Its a Skoda Superb 1.8TSI, 2011 model I got a head gasket replaced and a few cam timing chain guides replaced (only the chain guide and not the actual toming chain) The car is running just fine. There is no misfire or rough idle or any visible abnormality and there is no overheating now, due to which i had to have the head-gasket replaced, but the EPC light comes on intermittently leading to an MIL light (check engine light) and the scanner gives the code P0341 (Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 or Single Sensor) Now we replaced the oil control solenoid as well as the sensor. Voltage at the connector is 4.7V., yet the fault code refuses to go. Plzzzz help !!!!
