Just had my first gig last friday and honestly bro, you are the reason it was so successful. It's a bar/restaurant in Costa Rica that attracts tourists from all over the world as well as locals, kids and elderly! It was humbling to try and please such a diverse crowd. I was so nervous at first, people were eating dinner and the lights were still on... pretty quickly the locals were demanding i play reggaeton which i only had a few songs of. In this moment, I abandoned my "set" and seamlessly took it from reggaeton into latin/tribal house. Had the entire place dancing, moved it into some heavier deep and tech house from there and ended up having a blast. I would have failed miserably but thanks to you i was able to nail unrehearsed transitions under pressure and mix between genres for 4 whole hours!!!! ❤️❤️

From what I keep hearing with folks learning to mix is they DONT actually listen to their tracks and have no idea about how dance, house, disco music is structured. Just matching lines up in the software ain’t mixing. I do hope the kids, yep I call them kids watch and take time to go back to basics. Love your energy and vibe.

Hey Andy could Please do a vid on DJs that mix house tracks using Crossfader instead of up faders🙏🏻 I seen 3 DJs in Chicago doing that. I get if one is a scratch DJ AND does that but these guys are using that techniqe. Is that old school or lack of knowledge or what.

Great video on drop swapping! So one of the things I do when I drop swap is as the tracks approach the drop, I’ll take out the bass of the first track but I’ll keep the bass of the second track out until the very end. I’ll even maybe turn the mids of the second track just a little past midnight to accentuate the incoming song. But keeping the bass out completely and then bringing it back in just at the end makes the drop feel heavier and harder. But that’s just what I like to do when playing with the drops :)

Andrew i must say your EQ tutorials are the best! I am a fellow graduate of the course! It's always a great refresh to see you appreciate EQ work and not just base swapping like 90% of DJ's do. The hi's are very underutilized with EQ work

Great tips. For some reason my ear has always loved the chaos of the noise/busy bits which has always made this kind of (great) mixing you're doing harder for me haha. It's my Achilles' heel.

Man, i absolutely love your video’s. You not only show us how to DJ theoretically, but also directly convey your passion. Just had my first gig last week, in a bar where i work. I can confidently say thay your work has played an insane role in making this possible. Thank you so much, i deeply appreciate you. I currently struggle with something within my genre (deep minimal house/ tech. Like chriss stussy, prunk, etc). That is: i find it hard to mix out of key, with songs that have a lot of clashing character. It ends up being messy because of opposite keys, basslines, etc. Do you have a video on this, or some explanation? I would absolutely love it! ❤️ Again, thank you so much for al your efforts. You’re an unmissable teacher in this field ❤️✌🏼
