How to replace the fan motor in a Beko DVC61S fan oven.
My fan oven would start to heat up ok, but then tripped the cooker circuit breaker in the house fuse box. So I replaced the element and thermostat to see if it would fix the problem, but it didn't. So I disconnected the fan motor (which was working) and wrapped pvc tape over the spade connectors to avoid a short circuit, then tested the fan oven. This solved the problem of the cooker tripping the circuit breaker in the house fuse box. So I bought a replacement fan motor on eBay (UK) for £15.95 October 2021, and that fixed the problem.
HOW TO REPLACE THE MOTOR IN A FAN OVEN.
Before you start, make sure the oven is cold.
Turn off the cooker at the wall switch.
(If you're not sure you should switch off the cooker circuit breaker in the fuse box)
Pull out the cooker from the wall, so that you can access the rear panel.
Open the oven door.
Remove the shelves and anything else in the way.
Inside the fan oven, undo the screws holding the cover panel in place.
Remove the cover panel.
The fan nut has a left hand thread, so it turns clockwise to undo.
Hold the fan still and undo the fan nut.
(If the nut is rusted on and the flat edge is rounded inside the fan, grip the motor body with mole grips at the rear of the cooker whilst turning the nut. This is a 2 person job or you need to find a way of holding the mole grips in place whilst turning the nut.)
Remove the nut and fan.
Remove the Phillips screws holding on the rear panel.
Remove the rear panel.
Take a photo of the wiring on the fan motor to help when you attach the new one.
Disconnect the wires from the motor.
Undo the 3 Phillips screws holding the old motor to the oven.
Remove the old motor.
Offer up the new motor and replace the 3 screws.
Attach the wires to the new motor.
Replace the rear panel.
Replace the screws in the rear panel.
Attach the new fan inside the oven and tighten the fan nut anticlockwise.
Replace the cover panel.
Screw the cover panel in to place.
Replace the shelves.
Close the oven door.
Push the cooker back in to place.
Turn on the cooker at the wall switch. (and circuit breaker if it was turned off.)
Turn on the fan oven to test it is working.
Done.
I hope this helps.

Thank you, I watched this before attempting, and it went exactly as shown, except I had trouble with stuck screws for the fan, and the wrong parts sent by the supplier, but all fixed and working less than £20. Top man, thanks.

Thanks for this explainer. I’ve followed along and the fan no longer makes a loud noise and spins freely. I have a question about the airflow. Should the fan be pulling air towards it from the inside or pushing air away (ie back towards what is in the oven). I’ve just held a think bit of tissue next to fan on the inside and it’s pulling the tissue towards the cover.

Hi, thanks for watching. It is a fan oven. This is what a fan oven does. It is supposed to keep the temperature more even for the whole oven space. If you don't want the fan to spin, then you can disconnect the power from the fan and cover the end of the wire so that it does not short circuit by touching any exposed metal. Hope this helps.

@@PhilipWillsWorld ah thanks. My oven tripped the fuse and is now not heating up so I watched your vid have ordered a replacement heating element. I noticed the thermostat and it was wedged behind the heating element and then I noticed it in your video and saw that it was supposed to be on the side so thats why I asked. I am wondering now whether that was the reason why the element blew in the first place

I think you're right. Have you checked that the fan isn't catching and is free to move? And does the oven still heat up ok? It may be worth checking that the spade connectors are still connected to the terminals. Thanks for watching.

I think the heating elements gone in my oven after 10 years, can anyone help me with this question please, my oven doesn’t heat but recently until it went faulty oven would make a very loud fan spin rattling sound , is this the fan and motor that need replacing or is it because of the old heating element affecting the fan and causing it to rattle ? Any suggestions would be great
@PhilipWillsWorld

Check out my other videos to see if they help. Try a few things to see if you can identify the cause. Make sure you turn it off at the wall before poking around inside the oven so you don't electrocute yourself. Make sure it's cold so you don't burn yourself. Open the oven. Remove the shelves etc. Open the panel covering the fan and element. Try giving the fan a spin and see if it makes the noise. See if it's hitting anything. If so, the fan blades may be bent. You can easily bend them to avoid contact. It could be that the element has deformed and in the path of the fan. Check the panel hasn't been bent in to the path of the fan. Check if the fan retaining nut isn't loose (left handed thread.) Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

My fan stops working when the cover is on, but when i put it back on it stops. Is it safe to use the fan oven without the cover?
@PhilipWillsWorld
@PhilipWillsWorld Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The cover is there for safety, so it should be on. It sounds like either the fan blades are bent out or more likely, the cover has been bent in and hitting each other. I'd start by checking the cover isn't deformed. Hope this helps.

Once the motor is off, is there a way to test it to see if it's actually there motor that's not working?
@PhilipWillsWorld
@PhilipWillsWorld 2 жыл бұрын
If you know what you're doing and have a workbench with an appropriate power supply, you could try connecting power to the terminals. But if the rest of the cooker is working and you've checked the connectors are all attached correctly and the motor and fan are free to spin without obstruction, then it's probably time for a new motor.
@ViralEye1

@@PhilipWillsWorld everything on the oven works, but just the fan doesn't spin. Looking at the fan motor it doesn't look burnt out, or smells funny or anything. Just don't want to drop £20 on a new motor to find it still doesn't work

@PhilipWillsWorld Жыл бұрын
@@phantom_Biker you may be right about the insulation. Can you see any burning or melting? Or does it smell like it's butnt out? If you have been through a few motors, it is probably a symptom rather than a cause. Worth investigating the thermostat and wiring. Experiment with tuning the oven on, then see if the element cuts out when it gets to temperature.
