Thanks! My printer took a tumble in the back of my car and the hinge broke. I had a little trouble getting the side cover off, wasn't really explained, but I bought a hinge set on Amazon for $22 and this vidio helped. I had to also buy a pair of VT001-5 Vamp grips to get the grounding screw out and I had some old computer thumbscrews I didn't know why I was saving so it is better than new now as the old screw was inadequate and stripped. There are little arrows and indicators around the cover - about 5 or 6 of them if you have ever played an EXIT game you'll find them. There are 2 under the scanner head of the MF4570 Canon and 4 notches/arrows on the side panel + the screw on the back. In the end I probably saved $50 spent two trips the the printer shop so he showed me how to take the cover off.

Thank you for your video. My two printers by canon were also broken at these hinges. This defect is a recall-level failure.

Thanks! I just replaced both hinges on my Canon mf229dw with your video, only a couple points I'd raise: 1. My printer had one additional pry point on the bottom. Not sure if that's because mine's ImageClass instead of i-sensys. 2. Double check the ribbon cable routing before locking the top back into place. It's difficult to move them after it's on and the wider cable has to go down and around a piece of plastic or there will be too much slack. Very helpful 👍

Question do you use the spring inside of the replacement hinge? I am waiting for my replacement hinges from eBay and then will do this repair myself thank you for the video looking forward to your reply

Hello friend! You have already a spring embedded in the new hinge. You can use somewhere else the old spring ;) it's no more needed for this device ;) Good luck 😊

I replaced one hinge last year and the ADF didn't work but at least I could print and scan. Now the other hinge has broken. I'll replace it and see if I can get the ADF to work again. As @aredia5597 says below, this is a recall-level failure.
