Totally agree, too many times you watch one of these videos, they’re telling you their life story and including a lot of stupid things that have nothing to do with fixing the problem. Thanks man 👍🏻

I moved to the south from NYC . People like this dude is common down here. Taking his time to help ppl out by recording this video, different camera angles and lighting... All for no charge. They'll turn down money but will gladly accept a case of beer or bottle of their favorite booze.

Question: On my truck I had a hard time getting one end of the aluminum "Dust Structural Cover" lowered down past the passenger side end-mount for the cross-member. Also couldn't get pan out without slipping it to the side and removing the pump suction line bolts. Had to take that line, the gasket, and pan out all at once, together. One would think that my engine is too low, a motor mount issue perhaps. What are your thoughts?

If it’s a 4x4 yes.. bolts are stiff af to loosen. Everything shown in this video is pretty easy to do.
@mayken66619 ай бұрын
Did u get it done w/o lowering Diff ?
@url729219 күн бұрын
That is what I am dealing with now, do not have the clearance to move the pan past the trans like was done in this video. Think I will have to loosen the motor mounts & raise it to make clearance.

awesome video and this is how videos should be done. not looking forward to doing the job seeing the oil pressure sending switch was not my issue. starting to think the oil pick up tube maybe partial clogged or my oil pump is starting to go so shes sitting waiting on parts only 159k miles on my 02 ram 1500 4.7l
@s33therfan3 ай бұрын
This takes me back to the first one I replaced for the exact reason. I was having oil pressure issues , and adding extra oil to the truck helped get me home. After I pulled the oil pan off it was full of gunked up oil and debris etc. The trucks oil changes had been neglected from the previous owner . I cleaned the pan , removed the pick up tube and cleaned it ( screen clogged ) , and cleaned the lower portion of the engine. After that I had zero issues with oil pressure. But anyways that was my first experience with the 2002 ram 1500 oil pan and , I discovered the hard way how to remove it . Thank you for the feedback.
@braedenbrown6691 Жыл бұрын
If or when you have to change the gasket again? Try removing the Oil Fill Cap While Draining It. It Should make removing the gasket a whole lot easier.
@ArcolaBridge Жыл бұрын
Is it possible to see inside the oil pickup tube with an inspection camera from the oil drain plug?
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
I think you could . There may be just enough space under the pick up tube. Thanks for the feedback.

To remove the oil pan, Does the engine need to be lifted on 2009-2012 ram 1500 5.7L?

So you don't have to jack the engine up? Like every other video says. I'm about to pull the pan on my 06 ram 1500 5.7. Any info would be highly appreciated.
@willalabran7879Ай бұрын
How'd that go with the 5.7? Mines an 03 5.7. How'd you support it?

I just dropped pan down 1/2 inch. And with 2 big tubes of silly cone. Hooped it all way round was tricky. But used my hand. 🤚 with most. Lol but I bolted it back up. And wiped all the excess off. So nobody sees and freeks out. . Lol. But trick is. To let it dry for few days. You don’t want the gobs. Of silly cone to get mixed in oil. 😮

I agree on the cure time , I always wait atleast 24 hours. I resealed another truck by using rtv but taking the gasket off and cleaning it first. It never leaked a drop. The ultra black rtv has never let me down , but all the others have at some point. Great work and thanks for sharing.
@natureandrandomstuffАй бұрын
I wonder if a thin flathead screwdriver can be used to separate the pan?
@s33therfanАй бұрын
I would only use a putty knife , screwdrivers work great but may run the risk of gouging the pan. Thanks for the question.
@natureandrandomstuffАй бұрын
@@s33therfan oh ok. And thank you for the amazing video. I was watching another ftom like a shop but I noticed they use tools and stuff I can't buy and I thought there could be a video that would do the same job with no many tools and I found yours. Thank you again.

The plate between the oil pan and transmission I have a little leak any idea how I can fix that
@s33therfan Жыл бұрын
If the oil pan gasket is good , then I would be thinking a rear main seal. Usually not worth fixing unless a bad leak or removing the engine or transmission. Thank you for the feedback.

It is just the oil pan gasket. This truck uses high temperature rtv to seal the bed plate. Thanks for the question.

Only differential if it’s a 4x4.. found out the hard way which is a pain in the butt if the bolts are rusted out.

@Francisco Lopez hi, I have to replace piston # 4. I have 4 wheel drive, and I'm at the point of taking out the front diff screws. There are two that have a nut on the end, and when I tried to take the screw out of the very top holes of the diff, the head hits the side of the oil pan, and there's not even enough room, basically, to take the screws out on top. The other three came out fine. I also had to torch all of them ( I have a 2005 ram 1500)
