It's very hard to handle the pipe wrenches. Your worker must be pretty strong! The mechanism was really stuck, but when I finally heaved on it to fully raise the arm, lo and behold, the water gushed out! I put some plumbers grease on the stem. Hopefully, it will help. I saw a video in which the user put an acetylene torch to the head in order to loosen it up.

Working to replacing the stopper on my C-1000 today, when I removed the handle the rubber end appears to be still down at the bottom. I turned on my water pump to get the pressure built back up, but that is not pushing out the old stopper, any idea how I can get that old stopper out? Measuring my piping, it's down there about 8'1". I've e-mailed the company, but of course it's Sunday, hopefully they'll have an answer...

Works fine if everything is brand new. Nth degree more difficult if it has actually been used and outside for 20 years. Show me on a used one, not factory fresh.

What if If the plunger is stick and can't pull odd the rod?

Merrill Manufacturing, do you have any videos on your Y1 series? I have one that is spewing water from the valve mechanism when open. I can't find any information or videos showing how to rebuild or replace the needed parts. I can find the parts for it on your website.

The video does not tell where to set the adjusting nuts in the handle for the rod on initial installation 😢

Yesterday I did a complete rebuild on my C-1000 because it would not turn on. When I pulled the head off all that remained of the old plunger was the brass end and a little bit of the rubber. Seeing that much rubber missing I turned on the water with the head and rod assembly out of the stand pipe and let it run for several minutes. Seemed to be a pretty good flow with the column of water rising two to three inches above the stand pipe however I did not recover or see the remainder of the plunger. Reassembled the hydrant and still no water. I am guessing the parts of the old plunger that are missing are still stuck in the seat. Any idea on how to get it out or anything I may be missing. Thanks I would have emailed but I could not locate one on your website.

Hey Charlie, It sounds like the rubber from the plunger has pulled off and seized inside the valve body, though uncommon, this can happen in hydrants that aren't used for long periods of time. My unconventional fix is to weld a 3/8" lag screw on a rod, put it down through the rubber and pop it out. However, I cannot guarantee this will work. Unfortunately, the other option is to dig it up and take the valve body off to get at it. No amount of water is going to flush it out.

@@MerrillMfgCo Awesome! Same problem. Flowed it with the guts out and looked fine. Rubber came off the mount and is stuck. Just dig it up and pull it out. Could be worse I guess. Thanks for the info!!

The repair kit on Amazon, the plunger (A-115) looks nothing like what is shown in this video. Has Merrill changed the design of the plunger? (My hydrant is ~10 yrs old functions just fine but the packing has no more adjustment, so I just need the packing from the kit (I hope), but if one thing is not right about the repair kit makes it possible that something else is wrong.) Thanks

Hey Dennis, the A-115 is the plunger for our C-1000 series hydrants. An Any Flow takes a G-115 plunger for a standard 3/4" or a G-116 if it's a Hi-Cap 1".

@@MerrillMfgCo Can you tell me which Plunger is shown in the video? Please go to Amazon and search for "Merrill Manufacturing Hydrant Parts Kit PKCF for C-1000 Series Hydrant". The plunger in that kit DOES NOT look like the plunger in this video. That's the question I am asking. Thanks for your response!

No problem! The plunger in the video is the G-115. The PKCF is the parts kit for the C-1000 hydrant which does use a different plunger. You are looking for the PKAF which includes the G-115 (Any Flow plunger). Hope this helps!

@@MerrillMfgCo Yes it does help, but I've got the C-1000 and the video had C-1000 in the title. What I think the video was meant to do was convey the "typical" mechanics and not be specific to any one model. And it used the "Any Flow" as the demonstration model. I got it now.....Thanks for the feedback!
