Location for DLG3244S Starter also. Truck wont start... this is the Best Video on trouble shooting first and if needed, how to replace the STARTER on a 1999 Ford Explorer. Is also great for trouble shooting and fixing other vehicle won't start issues (especially Ford)

Not sure why anyone disliked this video but I just changed this on my 99 and I appreciate it. This was a great point of reference. Took about an hour and a half. My wires were much shorter than yours which made it a pain in the butt but finally was able to get the nuts on the solenoid.

It's no wonder your old starter wore out, it should never be that hard to start. I would imagine you have a fuel delivery problem, maybe a dirty fuel filter that needs replacement or a fuel pump issue. But other than that good job at explaining it.

This video was perfect help, Im replacing my buddys starter for his 1996 explorer and so far I have the old one out, I couldnt really see where the solenoid terminals were when I got it out so being able to see where the positive and negative terminals were was great so I dont put them in the wrong place. Thank you so much

I have a 1998 explorer and it makes a horrible grinding sound when I turn the key. It won't even turn over. Would it be the starter or would it be the flywheel?

Some jobs are just the MF, and this is one of those jobs in simple language. Thanks for the info we all appreciate it, especially the part where the connections to the relay tend to screw up , opposed to taking the whole starter out. Which you might have to do anyway just to get to the wires. LOL

Yeah, throw arm is popping out after it gets spinning. Bad starter for sure. I remember replacing the starter on my 1968 Plymouth Barracuda myself once. I had to unbolt and jack the engine up a few inches to fit the starter between the engine block and the exhaust manifold to get it out. I swore then never again. They'll just go to the shop from now on. 😂
