OK, I had the feed barb on the reservoir tank break off, Car got hot. Replaced the reservoir tank. also replaced the thermostat. I left cap off with a dead cold car, started it, added 50/50 coolant while car was warming up. Turned heater on and the car set until fan kicked on, added just a tad more coolant and after 20 min, put cap back on. Test drove and withing 5 minutes, car over heated? Let it cool off again and replaced coolant . I have tried this 3 times with the same results? Car was shut off off each time temp alarm came on. I am being told there is air in the system and that I need to get it all out or it will never run cool? Can you please explain how to get all the air out? There is no bleeder on this car? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Frustrated! LOL

Yes it sounds like you have some air stuck in the system , do you hear a wishing sound coming from the heater core?one way to get all the air out is to to purchase a airlift this system puts a vacuum on the system sucks all air out and replaces it with coolant, but it is also possible that the head gasket could be blown and is consuming water causing a air bubble to form and get trapped behind the t stat. I hope this helps besure to like and subscribe and tell a friend thanks for watching.

It was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for posting this. I couldn't have done it without the video! I also took the opportunity to replace the antifreeze while I had the hose off.

Good video, could you show a bit more of the process? You seemed to have skipped most of the actual work

The original clamp is perfectly fine to re-use. It's uses the physics of thermal expansion to keep the hose in place, that means it's never over or under tightened. The hose clamps using the worm screw stays put no matter what the temperature fluctuations.

yeah your right if your using good quality clamps then you won't have any issues. I always like to add new clamps for extra insurance to the job so my small job doesn't leak coolant and become a bigger job down th road thanks for watchin really apretacye it.

You asked for feedback. I was talking to a friend about the videos where the person takes the time to do everything and then at the end says, "I did this but didn't show that in my video..." Why that is bad is because someone who doesn't know what they are doing is trying to follow you in the order they think you are telling them to do it. My suggestion, take the time to do it right, what do you have to lose?

I watch this I'll be able to change on it because I've pulled Motors my daddy taught me a lot but for the novice you really should be more step-by-step if I did know about vehicles I wouldn't be able to change it with your video I can only because I know a little about vehicles for me it was a good video

Do you need to use a vacuum to pressure fill the coolant system on this or is just a regular fill with coolant funnel adapter.

Awesome, this seems lot less complex than what I was originally thinking. When you say burp the system, are you running the vehicle with the coolant cap off for a little while, then putting the cap on and removing it again right? That’s my only question. Thanks!

if you ask the parts store they should be able to tell what it takes exactly by application . most gm cars take dexcool it's orange but they may have changed what they recomened over the years.

Loved your video. Looking for advice. My climate control heater in my 15 spark is acting strange. For the past few mornings i noticed No heat emits when idling/starting up. Only once driving does it get kinda warm despite highest heat setting. Closer inspection revealed a couple things the following day when I let the car idle for 12+ minutes upon start up, I noticed the following: 1. The hose from thermostat to radiator was continually cool to the touch. 2. The fan never kicked on despite even rev'ing it a bit. 3. When I finally turned off the car, let it rest, all of a sudden the hose i mentioned earlier finally got hot. Tried playing with my climate control in the cabin and was able to get to emit heat like it should. For some background: My coolant level is at max.. and i replaced the thermostat a bit over 2 years ago now after some overheating issue and a check engine light. Any ideas whats going on with my baby?

Thanks for watchin really appreciate it you could have a few problems. The first one is you could have a bad heater core that's plugged and only allows enough heat out once you car gets up to operating temp. When your car does this is it up to half way on the temp gauge? Or does it stay at the bottom. If it stays at the bottom you could have a stuck thermostate or some one removed the thermostate because of other issues like a head gasket leak.Thanks for watching besure to like and subscribe for more tips and tricks and check out facebook and give it a like for more help in the future

What issues was the vehicle having for you to replace the thermostat? My spark 2015 shuts off when reaching operating temperature or when I get to a stop for some reason. Don't know if thats a thermostat issue or not
@fixergood
@fixergood Жыл бұрын
this one had a code for thermosate performance so it wasn't able to get to the right temp for the manufacture spec. if it shutting off at operating temp when you co.e to a stop you could have a dirty throttle or iac causing the minimum airflow to go away at temp. hope thus helps besure to like and subacribe

autopart store scanned my vehicle and i was told its the coolant temperature sensor, my fans would kick on. Received the part and the new sensor has an 90 bend for connection, i just did a quick inspection and didnt see any of the sensors on the housing or radiator with the 90 degree bend. BWD part # WT5239. where would this be? thanks

The radiator fan comes on when the car hits a certain temp, usually around 190 to 200 degrees f but it changes with each make and model. If you have ac you could use your ac to make the fans come on to verify that the fans work. Thanks for watching my video and besure to like and subscribe and tell a friend

My engine light was on and a computer pointed to a bad thermostat. But as I was about to change, I noticed coolant basically empty and found the the plastic piece the hose sticks to on my reservoir was broken.. So I replaced that reservoir.. BUT ... engine light is still on ... and I noticed -- though I now have heat my car is leaking something (water????) underneath the engine. ONLY happens when I'm running the AC or heat ... at least upon initial run in my driveway. A) Will the engine light go off on its own? B) What could be causing the leak?

Well that seems simple enough.. Question though a just got a replacement thermostat for my 15 spark. I noticed that it didn't come with a gasket. Did your replacement thermostat come with a gasket or did you buy the gasket separately?

That's just how they come sometimes , it just depends if the manufacture is getting cheap on you and want to put a gasket in it or not. Just go to the parts store and ask for a gasket and they should be able to help ya. Thanks for watchin please like and subscribe for more tips and tricks
