Hey mate, my '97 model is coming up an 210k kms and has some issues that need fixing. Nice job mixing and matching the footage from the engine stand with the in-car stuff. This video is going to come in super handy as reference material. Thanks man, subbed.

i prefer to jack the engine up, remove the timing side mount /upper timing cover, mount bracket and use spanners / sockets to just change the front of the pump, removing the intake manifold and alternator to remove the entire rear pipe assembly feels like extra work. :( i dont mess with that rear pipe unless the o-ring needs changing.

Currently trying to do it with mine and I just saw him take out the intake and I'm utterly confused why you need to do that.. I just have that 1 bolt to take off I'm trying to figure out how to take off the bracket

First time I did one of these was from underneath the car on jackstands, laying on my back in a pool of coolant and oil... christ what a hassle, but doable.

I hate this steel pipe in the engine cooling system because every time I remove the pump it leaks. Last time I just filled it with sealant and installed it.

Hey matt , is that a 5efe in that starlet? And is it worth changing them to that from the 4efe? Powerwise i mean
@MattBerrymotorsport2 жыл бұрын
Not really , not to mention how hard they are becoming to find.... Aftermarket cams alone in a 4e will out perform a stock 5e easily!

About how long did it take you to do this with the engine still in the car? And was it 2 of you or only you who did all work?
@MattBerrymotorsport2 жыл бұрын
Took longer to film and make the video than it did to replace the water pump... I can do them in about 20min without pulling the intake manifold off... Its a one man job

@@MattBerrymotorsport 😂 20 mins huh...I might have to do this soon so I'm looking for the quickest and easiest method with the engine still in the car. I'd assume that removing the intake manifold gives easier access based on what I see, but if it's possible to work without removing it, then would I need any special tools? (All I have are hand tools like ratchets and spanners...no power tools like you 😕)
@MattBerrymotorsport2 жыл бұрын
@@kio51423 yeah 20 minutes, ive got a video removing the cylinder head in under 10 minutes lol know my way around these engines well! you definitely can do it without removing the manifold, its just easier if you do so that you can see what you're doing.

@@MattBerrymotorsport oh ok great. I like to see what I'm doing 😂 Thanks for the tips and info man! I'll definitely check out your other vids too. I could use a little more knowledge from a pro like you 😎👌
