How to Reset a WordPress Website | Clean a WordPress Site and Start Over

In this video we are going to show you how to reset a WordPress website to its default state. We will use a free plugin to reset our experimental WordPress website. We used the Blocksy theme for the website that we are going to reset. As for plugins, we aren’t using many. Note that the reset plugin generally doesn’t remove your plugins and themes, it simply deactivates them. If you want to remove your plugins, you have do that manually.
The plugin that we are going to be using is WP Reset. It is a popular plugin owned by WebFactory Ltd. The plugin resets your WordPress website along with its database. You can start building your WordPress site from scratch. You just type in ‘reset’ and hit a button and that is how to reset WordPress website with WP Reset.
However, if you’re using any theme, WP-Reset might deactivate the theme and set the to any default Twenty Twenty theme. You have the option to reactive your current theme from WP-Reset options. We are going to use that option. We hope that you’ll find this video helpful and learn how to factory reset a WordPress site easily.

The error message “WP Reset is disabled and you don’t have access to it” usually occurs when the WP Reset plugin is not activated or has been deactivated. You can try activating the plugin again and see if that resolves the issue. If you still can’t access it, you may need to manually disable your plugins using FTP. First, connect your site using FTP or SFTP. When connected, locate the folder containing your WordPress files (often public_html) and double click to open it. In there, locate your wp-content folder and double click to open it. In this folder, you will find a folder named “plugins”. Rename this folder to something else (e.g., “plugins_old”) to disable all plugins at once. This should allow you to access your WordPress dashboard again.

If you don't need the existing site's data then you can simply remove WordPress and then reinstall WordPress on your hosting. But that will destroy all of your website data and files. Please be careful.

Dear viewer, wp reset cannot undo the reset, but it doesn't delete any files including plugins and themes. So if you want to get your theme back, go to Appearance > Themes and select the original theme you had. but as for your colors, fonts, and images you have to start all over again. But your images, fonts, etc. should be present as wp-reset doesn't delete those files.

Dear viewer, if you want to remove any theme, you can go to WordPress > Appearance > Themes from your WordPress admin dashboard. Here you'll find all your themes, you can click on a theme and click on "Delete" to remove that theme. You can also add a new theme by clicking on the "Add New Theme" button. You cannot delete any active theme. So you have to switch to another theme first if you want to delete your active theme. ( Note: You can contact us for any assistance with WordPress or content development: wpgiz.com/contact/ ) To install Elementor, you can go to Plugins > Add New Plugin from your WordPress admin dashboard. Then on the search bar, search for Elementor and click on "Install Now" and after it's installed click on "Activate" to enable Elementor. You can install any page builder plugin following the same process. However, if you want reset your site, you can follow the steps shown in this tutorial. If you want to know which content will be removed by WP Reset, you can read the "Please read carefully before proceeding" section. This section is available when you click on WP Reset from Tools > WP Reset. Thank you.

Hi, the problem you're having is unusual as WP Reset doesn't remove the user. To solve this issue, first login to your phpMyAdmin, then look at your wp_user table. Check if the username you're using to login exists. If it does, then try resetting the password and try logging in afterwards. Please let us know if it worked. Thanks.
