Suffering from anxiety disorder for a couple of years now. Realized that fear has gotten me addicted to self isolation, spending too much time on social media watching people go through their successful lives while i feel miserable about my own life and then wondering why my life got stuck. that's it. i'm taking back control of my life. thanks so much for your videos and keep inspiring!

I’ve been on a dopamine detox for 6 days now and it’s made me realize so much. Those first few days I had a new found focus and productivity but around day 4/5 I noticed these intense emotions of loneliness and feeling disconnected from everything. As you mentioned it really did reveal how we as human use dopamine to hide/avoid certain emotions. Now focused on working through those to really unleash my creativity. I felt my addiction to dopamine was stifling it. Now I will say I’ve found myself spending way more time on KZfaq so it may need to be the next one to go :(

Awesome video! Also one key factor that I have noticed about dopamine triggers: it's better to cut out as much as you can, becasue often times they are heavily related. If you give in to one, the others might follow. E.g. you go out for drinking-clubbing binge and and after that you crave a large fatty meal and the day after you feel letargic and unmotivated. And so it goes.

I have struggled with addiction since a very young age and I recognize my attempts to replace those more extreme forms of dopamine activators with any other thing that will feed my need for dopamine. I'm still hooked on the dope! I am aware of this and definitely prayer and meditation, staying present and working with others are the only way out. I'm not meant to always feel good. Pain is growth and I'm ready to master this flesh vessel! So bring on the detox!

Thank you so much! This was Eye-opening! I have heard of it before, but never really did much research, but now thanks to you I know why I am feeling numb all the time, why I procrastinate on a master level, why I can't get anything done etc. I am a dopamine addict and really need to work on this to feel happy again. I struggle with pornography and social media, binge watching everything online. For some reason sugar and video games don't do it for me, but maybe just because i got bored of them... Well, thanks again!

Great Video - I know someone in Rehab and your video was very helpful in helping focus on what to say and not to say when they get out. I have never dealt with anything like this before and I have a life where stimulation and gratification all come from the happiness in my work. People say I'm lucky but I have always set my mind on "the harder you work, the luckier you get!" but that isn't really it as I have faced failure and disappointment too. Your comments about feeling guilty if not "over stimulating" are BANG ON THE MONEY. Even when i am trying to watch one of my passions on the TV (which i pay for and love) I am finding myself wandering, working while listening, and especially when I watch the whole event - 4 Hours worth - I feel the guilt of not doing something on my list, or just not multitasking to be productive. Mindfulness, but more especially listening - or trying to as I struggle with that if not stimulated - has been a focus lately and NOW, especially. Wanting to be with someone is a big focus atm and it's been difficult - I am a Helper/fixer - I am a man - that's what we do - or try to - trying to think what will help and what can be a focus for the person coming out of Rehab. Having the mindset to listen and help if possible is very difficult for someone who is used to finding solutions every day for what people say cannot be done - I don't have a box so the random nature of my thinking has not helped my thought process - UNTIL NOW Thank you for the advice - I will focus on putting that to use in my own life before trying to fix someone else's. They have asked for my help - but before they went in and they have a long history of this behavior so I am very wary of not hurting myself in the process - but that is tempered by my own history and self-motivation Now I will get off the computer and go do some real work! LMAO - not stimulating but necessary - that feeds the accomplishment Node in my brain but not much else!! #wedontdoboring #howtobuildasandcastle #thingstodo #mindfulness #listen #helpdontfix #lifeistooshortnottohavefun #whenwesharewegrow #collaborationisastrengthNOTaweakness
