Bergeon 7230 plastic pin pusher tool:

Generic watch hammer and base to hold bracelet:

The old pin and collar Omega bracelets are found on many different seamaster models and other watches as well. I have found a plastic pin pusher tool to be very effective in removing the pins on this type of bracelet, which are held in place by collars seated in the middle of the links. I use the plastic side of the watch hammer to put the pins back.

Thanks! Way better than archie luxury instructions which are justy swearing to a set of photographs.

This really helped me re-size the bracelet on my Omega De Ville Prestige, I had no idea where those little 'collars' had fallen from! Many thanks, AquaTerraMan.

Thank you, thank you! I purchased a ceramic band and bought a watch resizing kit so I could resize the band myself. Well, I discovered my band had these collars on the pins and could not find instructions anywhere! I called a jewelry store and they were going to charge $50 and up depending on the difficulty on repairing. I put away the kit and band in frustration. This was 4-5 months ago and out of the blue decided to search KZfaq again. With your video, I was able to resize my band in 5 minutes! Thank you!

Thanks for the trouble of making this wonderful video. Just resized big my quartz SMP that I bought more than 10 years ago, since I've gained some weight; what a pain in the ass is doing this procedure! Thankfully I have all the necessary gear so I gave it a shot and everything came out all right. You saved me hundreds and mental sanity if I screwed something up when doing this. Thanks! In comparison, I have recently bought a Phyllida SMP NTTD homage that has the same bracelet but with double screws that are much, much easier to resize, even though you've be careful with the threads so they stay ok.

I'm glad to hear it was helpful! The pin and collar system is an absolute pain in the ass indeed. Stuck pins can be incredibly difficult to remove. The newer Seamasters have much more convenient screw links now, but I don't find those bracelets as comfortable as these older pin and collar ones. It's nice that the homages are using screw links, I am actually quite curious about the NTTD homage myself.

This was extremely helpful thanks. Some tips from my experience: 1. When I popped the first section of link 3 collars fell out and I was so confused - I soon realized that there were supposed to be 2 collars on each side, and one side only had 1. So for anyone wondering, put 2 collars on like he does in the video. 2. When I was trying to remove 1 link, it wouldn’t come out after the pin was removed. This was because a collar was getting stuck between the 2 links and preventing them from separating. Took me like 10 min but I used the pin to try to push it back into 1 of the centers, so that the links would come apart. Ended up removing and inserting the pins several times and trying to push the collar into the middle from the side I saw it overlapping on - ended up getting it to pop after some very frustrated wiggling of the pin.

Thanks for this - very helpful. I had one new pin that was REALLY stubborn to get back in and I found the end of a small torx security bit fit nicely over it - hammered the bit on top of the pin and it stopped it from slipping or bending

Where did you get the long pin ? Mine is too short and only pops the link out 1/4 inch. Can't pull it out from there with pliers. Need a longer pin to push the link out farther.

I mentioned it in another video, you can get the pin pusher and pins from a site called mywatchmaker.net. I have no affiliation with that site, I just happened to buy from there.

@@Codswallop4u Let me know how it works out. Sometimes they are an absolute pain in the neck. And then other times, they get so worn out that they literally fall out of the bracelet. I put up with it since these watches are fantastic in all other aspects.

Can someone please tell me, I like this bracelet. I want a 97isj black Seamaster with this bracelet. I cannot find it. If I get a newer Seamaster will this bracelet still fit it.? I imagine it would but have no idea. (Newer - 6-10 years old~)

I’m trying to resize my wife’s quartz constellation. Do the tubes have an orientation or can they be inserted whichever way?
@omegawatchfan
@omegawatchfan 7 ай бұрын
I hope you were able to do it but in my experience, if it has the pin and collar system, it should not matter as long as the groove of the collar lines up with the groove of the pin when the pin is installed. You can check that visually before you install them.

A handy tip; Before you are going to use tools to resize your watch, practice this first on an old bracelet you will never use.

The collars should be replaced if you remove a link. They are considered a one time use part. If you reuse, they will loosen up over time and the pins will fall out.
@omegawatchfan

Definitely would be a good practice. It is unfortunate they want an exorbitant $5 for them.

How about how to attach the bracelet back onto the watch? Thanks.
@omegawatchfan
@omegawatchfan 3 жыл бұрын
The easier way is to put each half of the bracelet on the watch before attaching the bracelet together, since you have easier access to the spring bars that way. The negative of doing that is you have to hammer the last pin while the watch head is attached to the bracelet, meaning some shock will be transmitted to the watch head. I prefer to attached the complete bracelet to the watch head to avoid that. It helps if you have good spring bars with well formed double flanges as these will make it much easier to compress the bar as you are positioning it to fit between the lugs. A lot of difficulty when reinstalling a bracelet is due to poor springbars. Also make sure your springbars are not too long as that can make it impossible to compress them sufficiently. Omega uses shorter spring bars when a bracelet is attached to the watch versus a strap, for this very reason. The tolerances on Omegas are small so this can be critical. I can try to make a video to show this, but will need to find a way to film it. Thanks for watching.

@omegawatchfan

You need to use a forked springbar tool to compress the springbar. The procedure is not specific to Omega watches. Hopefully I can make a video of it eventually. Thanks for watching
