This G35 hood was damaged to the point of disposal or to be body worked, then painted. I wanted to help my customer out and save his hood and show others the possibility of bringing it back to life with the right know how. Do not be mistaken, a job like this takes a ton of labor hours, materials, and plenty of effort. It definitely came out far better than when it left Extreme Dimensions warehouse. Hey what did you use over that fiberglass to smooth it out just regular body filler or Bondo glass. Will plastic filler work? Lmk thank you

I have a damaged carbon fiber hood I got at the salvage yard I tried to fix it with fiberglass it did not work so I'm trying to learn

That's a good start. I've never thought about looking at the salvage yard. It's a ton of labor hours, but the end results always bring satisfaction. What damage did the hood have?

@@BeardedPandaProductions so I was told it's a fiberglass shell with the carbon fiber over lay. It looks like the clear film is peeling off everywhere, it's cracked all over and busted. It's the Vader style for the 99 Eclipse. I tried to fix some of it with fiberglass it failed. Bondo cracked to

I have several more videos following this hood that goes into deep details. I meant to put those out first, but plans changed. These videos include how to lay resin, types of resin, how to match up the weave, laying more than one carbon fiber sheet, etc.

Almost easier to make a mould and make a new hood entirely.

I agree. It can get a bit expensive (products and labor time). I do design my own lips, kits, and spoilers, so copying other manufacturer's products to resell is unethical for me. So I'd have a hood mould just sitting around my shop. Also, I still would've had to do all the bodywork shown in the video to get a clean and perfect part to mould.
