i totally agree with the string comment! So you need twice the string she indicates, two times the length and one horizontal length times. This is confusing. I have to go back to the store for twice the string, plus I cut the first 8 yards in half. So what I have, may not work!

Hi, Fixmyblinds! Thanks so much for this video - very clear! One question I had is the video shows the top rail being put together before you string the cords through the cord locks - this somehow doesn't seem possible - you can't get to the cord lock once the two pieces of the top rail are put together. Stumped!
@fixmyblinds
@fixmyblinds 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Claire, What part of the video are you referring to? I know that it looks like the headrail gets put back together at about 8:50, but it's just slide on partially, leaving one cord lock exposed at a time for threading.

Vida - We don't have a diagram for a five-string shade. Just remember that all of the strings that start in the bottom rail exit the shade altogether on the same side of the shade. All of the strings that start at the floating rail exit the shade altogether on the same side of the shade, too. Feel free to call our office at 719-597-0696 for additional help. ~ Gretchen

THREE-HOLE, SIX-STRING & WIDER SHADES!! While this video is very helpful, IMO it is inadequate for wider shades that have a CENTER set of cords. In a case such as that, one will have MORE THAN FOUR cords. The cords will each be of a different length. My six foot wide TDBU shades have six cords total. A few years ago I found an image and captured it using screenshot software. The image is/was still available today and I found it using the phrase "pin on blind repair diagrams & visuals". I hope someone finds this useful, because I was mostly lost trying to use this video.

Sometimes, with top-down-bottom-up, you can just replace the strings on the side with the broken operation. We recommend replacing all of the strings that operate either the top down or bottom up so that the locking device works properly.

Repairing a top-down-bottom-up shade made by Graber/Bali can be a challenging repair. I recommend taking some photos of how your blind is assembled before taking everything apart. @fixmyblinds
@fixmyblinds 8 жыл бұрын
+Louis Ambrose Our recommendation for string length gives you a generous estimate. Better to cut all the strings once and do the repair than have to recut strings that are too short.
@devisissy1
@devisissy1 8 жыл бұрын
Because their formula is dumb. You only need to know the drop length of the blind. If it's 20 inches then you need 20 inches of thread and about 15 extra for leveling and for your pull cords. That's it. No real science.
@jeanne5692
@jeanne5692 4 ай бұрын
Why don't you indicate the length and whether string is doubled up. This is such an important detail.
@fixmyblinds
@fixmyblinds 4 ай бұрын
I apologize for any confusion. The video only demonstrates cutting two strings, but in reality, four separate strings were cut and utilized for repairing the shade. To fix your shade, you will need to cut each string into a separate piece, with each piece measuring (2 times the length of your shade) plus the width of your shade.
@marywilliams4670
@marywilliams4670 4 жыл бұрын
This would be one of the most helpful videos ever, but for one thing. The information about cutting the strings is totally inadequate. The diagram can be used to guess at the number of pieces needed, but the lengths required differ according to whether a given string goes through the cord lock on the same side as it's attached, or the one on the opposite side. I've wasted a lot of string that's not cheap.
@fixmyblinds
@fixmyblinds 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary, I hope that the video was overall helpful to you. Our string cutting guide is a generous estimate designed to give folks enough string, even if mistakes are made. We do know that trimming is required and that can result in some wasted string. We like the simplicity of the formula we use. It's honestly much easier for many people than figuring out the exact length needed for each string. Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions or help with anything.
