The soil science that goes into creating the pitch The physics of the ball: swing, spin, seam movement The chemistry involved in designing proper cricket bats and balls Since you are a former science teacher, it must be great to see applications of science in a game you love!

Always interesting watching pitches get renovated, they did a full resurface of one of the main pitches where I live, saw every bit of it, so much work goes into it 💪💪

It would seem to me that Woodhall Spa put more effort into their pitch maintenance than some test venues. This is the secret of a pitch's longevity. Neglect produces a "low slow" track which kills the standard of cricket. Well done to Simon and his team.

It's from players yearly subs / match fees, a decent chunk from bar venue, and then hiring the pavilion for events and such can be a good boost of income

Wish we had more clay pitches in Florida. Everything turning into artificial. Guess they worrying about the maintenance.

@@canyoucricket Yes there is but mostly white ball cricket. We play all year with little breaks in between. We mostly do 30 overs and T20s.
