They look great. 👍 I bought a pair of Grenson's on a whim, the boots were brown but too light for me. They sat in a drawer for years, then l bought some of the Feibings leather dye, it's so good and so simple, light to mid brown in half an hour. 🙂

a tip I have to share is that the best cloth that I have found so far, for applying any polish or any cream whatsoever onto the leather goods, is actually an old pair of jeans cloth. Denim does not really absorb a lot of moisture quickly and because the cloth is rough it's a bit abrasive it helps you also get the shine later on.

Informative and a pleasant watch as always, I guess it is finally time for me to actually subscribe and not just watch. A couple of points worth mentioning: As I was restocking on Saphir products yesterday, I had a good talk with a leather- and shoe care expert working in the shop. He said, that after applying the cream, one should wait for a full hour and then brush for two reasons: One, in his experience, the shine from the cream became richer and more intense. And two, and maybe more importantly, even though the shoe seems dry and the cream has done its job, that is not truely the case. It takes an hour for the cream to really seep into the leather and settle, and by waiting, and here is the real kicker, you thus vastly reduce the risc of "dry spots" that won't really shine when you apply the wax (the dry spots are really the opposite, they are oversaturated spots, ie "wet spots"). Furthermore, and this is a bonus point for those who wants a mirror cap: According to experts, like world champions in shoe shining, by applying wax and polishing it up, and then letting the shoe/boot rest for a day or two, and then reapplying the gloss and polishing it further, one can get a even higher level of mirror shine as well as making it last longer. The wax polish, like mirror gloss and/or Pate de Luxe, needs a day's time to cool off and settle before applying a few more layers to really get that glassy look that lasts. It produces an even higher mirror effect than if you do not, plus it is easier to attain the top gloss that way, AND one can also imagine how the hardened layers underneath the top layers will enhance the sturdyness and prolonge the life span of the mirror gloss. Cheers from Copenhagen, Denmark.

Great renovation video Ash. Great end result. I have one point of critique. When you compare the boots before and after, both boots should have a shoe tree in or none at all. Otherwise, It is not a 1:1 comparison. The shoe tree smooths out the renovated one while you can see every crease at the not renovated one.

Nicely done, Ash. I agree, its very rewarding 'zoning out' and seeing them rejuvenate as you work on them. I would add - not only being perceived well by others, but (more importantly) how good you feel when you pull on your reconditioned/polished shoes. The feel and softness of the leather, the lustre, and the scent makes you and your feet feel great, and bouys you up knowing that you're presenting and being your best self.

Fab video. Only one thing I would recommend the parsimonious chap.... put the cream on with your fingers, or gloved fingers if your concerned... the cream will last much longer. Also, I've got a bone to pick with you. ;) Bought daughter a 1964-69 Parker 45 fountain pen set, My wife commented that she likes a fountain pen, so I got her one. Daughters "vintage set" arrived, I got jealous and found myself a single Parker 45 of the same "vintage".... then I saw two Parker 51s from the late 50s in need of restoration for cheap, bought them, learned how to restore them and tune the nibs. Another pastime found. Cheers M ps thanks for the edge dressing demo... never bought that so far, will get some.

Good video Ash. I must admit though, I would use the renovator far less often, particularly the Medaille D’or one which has a very high concentration of mink oil. I would use that a couple of times a year as it can actually make the leather a bit too soft in my opinion. They do other creams that are weaker and probably a better for regular application. The only other thing I would do if they were second hand shoes (or had been badly neglected) would be to use a product like Saphir Renomat which is used to remove old polish and wax. Strips the product back so you can start from scratch. You do have to be careful with it though as it can take off the patina if you go too mad! Apart from that, you pretty much do the exact same process as I and with very similar products. I too love to put my earbuds in and polish up some shoes 👍🏼

Ash, another relaxing (zen) video in your series of shoe restoration/cleaning. I think I must have watched nearly all of this these videos of yours. However, this might be the first time that you have applied an edge dressing as the finishing touch, and it certainly makes a difference in final presentation. I normally apply an edge dressing but use a simple to use product with its applicator attached aka "Kiwi liquid polish". Add one bottle of brown and one of black to your shoe-cleaning kit and you will have ready to use edge dressing available for years!!! Another fine video, Carry on Sir! PS: I also have a similar pair of Loake Burford in Tan w/leather soles and a (slightly preferred) pair in Burgundy w/dainite soles. Both sporting a fine shine and mirror finish on their toe caps...

I love your shoe polishing videos. I am processing a new pair of boots from TLB Mallorca, the Spanish company. The toecap and vertical heel ribbon are a darker medium brown and the rest of the boot is brown. Nice museum calf leather, and it is polishing very well. Deep mirror shine on the toe. No medallion on the toe to interfere with the mirror shine. Rubber sole, their brand, but much like a Dainite sole. The only oddity is in the lacing system. No eyelets, only holes punched in the leather. And I too find shoe polishing to be a zen-like experience. Saphir is not cheap (the Mirror Shine is US$35 per can), but does the job so well. Keep up the good work!
