It takes months to years to break those raw trash down. It won’t work immediately and might cause failure of continuous cropping by malnutrition of soil

A gardener here on KZfaq does this to all her plants. She adds it at the bottom however, and grows in storage tubs. Her name is Robbie from California. I don't think it will take long to decompose. It depends on what you put in there.

it's true that adding fresh organic matter will decrease the nitrogen content of your soil temporarily while it starts to break down, however you can just add some natural fertilizer like horn shavings to balance it out again :)

That isn't raw trash. He explicitly says "decomposed food scraps", and pulls it out of a bokashi fermenter. They've already been through an aggressive rotting process.
