Its the same logical theory for children.. If a child goes to school with current ongoing emotional issues; possibly because of anger, self-esteem, abuse, neglect issues they are often unable to access eduactional learning. Emotional literacy can be implemented, with support, to help them develop tools to make sense of themselves and cope much more independently.

I actually feel like at the doctors office I work at, that the providers take anything mental health wise, is taken much more seriously. And we have a behavioral health team that really does quite a bit. I do feel like everyone could always do more, but it is not just let me medicate you and tell me how you’re doing in a month.

I have been hitting brick walls for the past 6 months, desperately seeking help for my adult son. During a 72 hour Baker Act he was served a restraining order while an inpatient at a facility, making him homeless without phone, money, etc. After a desperate 2 week search, he showed up at a friends house completely delusional. He has since violated the restraining order by sleeping in the garage, charged with a felony, and on probation. He's unemployable without medical insurance, and allows the people controlling his mind, dictate his actions. He states he's working for Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and the CIA yet last election he voted for Donald Trump. He is court ordered by his probation officer to see a psychiatrist and be on meds within 30 days, yet its impossible to get him to go. He will go back to jail for 3 years and not receive the help he needs if I don't get solutions soon. HELP!!! If anybody out there has any suggestions I need them! Much appreciated!

actually, social workers, psychiatrists and therapists shame me when i ask them about biology then use it against me i'm crazy for thinking about the scientific method. ive completely given up on the whole field. either they fire me or i fire them and am done with it. i make up my own treatment. i actually think they do the shame on me thing bc it insults their work. ive search nyc for a person that does biology with behavior, for me, anxiety. can't find a person, one at columbia i found but they don't take my insurance. whats scarier than the quizzes and meds, they just take what a previous person wrote. my medical notes in this discipline too are so off the wall and some are lies. my other med records don't have lies in the notes. i think the field is made up for folks w a controlling god complex too. my self-care i made up works better than the meds and therapy. examples writing, watching a lot of media that makes me laugh, seeing friends/calling them, sleep and food. anyways at least i am not the only one out there w this psych POV. i know im not crazy when they make issues over this biology stuff.

Fascinating; neuroscience is certainly the way to go to decrease the stigma surrounding mental illness. I would love a discussion about hallucinogens, such as, ketamine, psilocybin, et. al. That is my next destination for help with diagnoses of TRD, PDD and MDD. TMS treatments did nothing. I am aware of the mind-gut connection and have been taking pre and prebiotic. Sorry, I didn't mean to send this yet. I eat saurkraut now and then. I do this without guidance as my insurance does not pay for nutritionist or dietitian visits. I am aware of Dr. Amens clinical research as I have been receiving emails from the clinic for some time. Let's talk about Medicare and insurance paying for evaluation and treatment at the Amen Clinic. Does it pay for SPECT, rMRI and Dr. Amens' expertise and knowledge 🤔. My guess is that it isn't covered or only a small portion is covered. Then there is the expense of travel; I live in Texas. I would love to be able to see Dr. Amen, however, my resources are limited. I ask about the real possibility of being seen at the Clinic without the stress of wondering how to pay for treatment. There are thousands of us in the real world who would be grateful for a chance to achieve optimal Brain Health...Dr. Phil, please use your platform to make it possible for those of us who are not rich. Thank you. PS: I love the Phil in the Blanks podcasts, it's like being in school without the exams.

Am I mistaken, or is there a lack of any mention of what treatments there may be? Surely they can give some general idea of what can be done to improve people's brains? I want to know about help. Otherwise, a diagnosis can make your life worse, if you are trying to be a functioning parent, employee etc. My Mum always said there was something wrong with me. Her best theory was that I was deprived of oxygen during childbirth. Can autism be diagnosed via brain scans?

That's what my Sons Dr told him and he said NO he wants to learn and help himself too. Please if you see this I will so appreciate your guidance. It was the psychiatrist in our situations due to sexual abuse they were.givem medication for ADHD, bipolar, severe social anxiety, PTSD, and a list of ones that make them zombies and it feels miss managed.

General practioners/physicians have absolutely no business prescribing psychiatric medications. You wouldn't go to a podiatrist for cardiac issues, why because it's out of the scope of expertise...so why allow a gp dabble with psychiatric drugs? I think people become victim of what they have at times. For instance. Some people have a disability and go to work anyways and some don't. We need to stop letting our disabilities define our capabilities. When we are told we don't have to work even though we could because we have a disability, who's gonna chose to work? Who's gonna chose to go into work when you make more off disability sitting at home. It's gonna get to the point where everyone wants to be disabled because they we get rewarded for it. Some people legit need it but sooooo many people could still work and don't.
