Excellent tips throughout! The one thing you missed is hydration. Use tablets in at least every other bottle. Drink at least once every ten or fifteen minutes. Oh, and make sure your bike is in good repair. Before EVERY ride check tire pressure, chain lube, and that your axles are tight. Just recently, my friend rode with a slack quick release, hit a bump, lost a wheel, and suffered a broken arm and wrist and a dislocated shoulder.

This video is highly underrated! Excellent tips, well organised, just plain simple no nonsense production. Could have added: 1) the need for carrying two water bottles, 2) the importance of the right kind of eyewear.

I’m using a hybrid so will likely take 12 hours for my first century. Also the terrain here in Westchester County, just north of NY City dictates a somewhat hilly route.

Disagree about not riding in warm weather i love riding in the hot weather I'm in my element then. Its the wind, rain and cold I cant stand.

Sun lotion? not much need for the that here, its the UK rarely gets hot enough or sunny enough to need it. Go tubeless with sealant no need for spare innertubes.

True. Not much Sun in UK. I'm from Mauritius, a tropical island. Sun screen for us? Nah. We have thick skin. Besides I find sunscreen burns my eyes when the sweat starts running down the eye brows😮
