Dude you are the fucking MAN!!! I used to ride a lot a couple years back. I rode bmx and then single track with a full suspension. I lost my left leg above the knee in a motorcycle crash in October of 2012 and due to complications and surgeries,I still don't have a prosthetic. I've been dreaming of the day when I can walk and ride again. This video you've made has given me a lot of hope that I may actually be able to pull this off.

Odyssey Jim celienki pedals you can search for odyssey trail mix. They are a type of Bmx metal platform pedals. One nice feature is the ability to replace the pins if they become warn out too much. Cost about $35-$40 dollars per set.

Thank you for the nice comment. I would play with the flexion and extension adjustments on that model knee to find a good balance point to allow for riding. Don't forget to mark your original settings! Also it would help to not use cages or clips and instead load the toe directly on the pedal. Hope this helps.

My dad is trying to build a bike that would work for a person with an amputated leg. It's like a lever system and I think the pedals work independently of each other. You can pedal it with one leg.

You really gotta do a video on rising out of the saddle. I have the exact same knee as you but I have not been able to stand on the pedals. I have very little residual limb left and Ive found that with a lanyard suspension sleeve once I start to warm up and sweat, its all over. My prosthesis starts sliding off and riding sucks. As for standing on the pedals...I fell like that will never happen. At least not with a total knee. What I do to keep my false foot on the pedal is just use a single velcro pedal strap.

That obsticle you talk about, I for some reason don't have that. When I first tried it, there is a point of no return, like you say. But in a store I tried a stationary bike again, I have not ever had that stop point. I have a much better knee than you have

Man.... you have inspired me. I tried a couple of times and my foot kept slipping off the pedal. I put straps but couldn't get my leg off the pedal in time to avoid falling. Whats the name of your pedals and where did u buy them

omg this is amazing. I just rode today for the first time in 20 years but on a mountain bike. my foot kept coming off. I need some practice for sure but id die to ride box again. What are the stats on your bike (tire size and top tube size) im 6'4". was thinking either a 22" bike or a 20" with a 21.25 top tube? I feel like my X3 knee is too long it keeps pushing up off the bike.
