So glad to see you back on the slopes! This video is particularly helpful, I always struggle with these, and it’s definitely technique on my part. I’d love to see some terrain park stuff, you break down really technical aspects so well and it would be so helpful for jumps and rails.

Love the extension of the GoPro stick to emphasise the extension of your lower body! Nice touch! Love to see some more glacier riding, any chance you can find a skier to ride ahead and around you with a 360 camera, so we can see you from a little further out and see the lines you will potentially take/avoid

Hey job I ride goofy as well first thing u could do is find a mellow area and practice there when going for a toe side turn imagine a bug is on top of your boot and use your knee to squash it by pushing your knee downward to heel side turn open up your lead leg and sit in the bucket u will turn and remember to trust your edges and not to pullout to soon spend at least half your day practicing u will get I’m sure

Japanese people love banked slaloms. I have had the pleasure to try some super gnarly ones, steep, tight and icy. Flew out of one of these a few times and it was not fun.

Do you have any recommendations for getting through moguls, or ridiculously steep runs? I'm self taught, and extremely comfortable on blues and blacks that are flat, but as soon as I need to make those extremely short back and forth I can't seem to get my board around in time and end up falling. Not really looking to ace them, but would love to be able to follow some of my ski friends through different runs.
@malcolmmoore

Getting your feet and ankles working independently to achieve an early edge change is essential. This video starts of with the basics of the movement but then shows you how to apply it to steeper terrain: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bragothirbSznKs.html To then apply this to moguls you want to make the edge change on the downside of the mogul. But sometimes moguls just suck, here is a video of me struggling on some pretty icy moguls! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qNygo5ph0Z-Rn2w.html

Nice vid! Is there a way to control speed in these if you find yourself going too fast for comfort?
@malcolmmoore
@malcolmmoore 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Baz, not always no! If the berm is big enough you can push your back foot out over the top a bit like you are doing a lipslide. But aside from that it's more of a case of just trying to hold your line. Sucking your legs up over any bumps will help smooth things out somewhat too!
@Gary-np7hl
@Gary-np7hl 2 жыл бұрын
this is a million dollar question. i ride these all the time through trees and have felt a little sketchy just sending it. i really want to try the lipslide malcolm mentioned but it's more reading the terrain a few turns ahead and finding that place where you're comfortable and have some space to quickly skid a turn. i was hoping for a better answer myself. i always like to be in total control of my speed.

Not euro carve, but how do you do really nice carves that you can touch snow with your hands? I found it challenging on Green or Blue, and carving is really not possible for me on Black. How to diagnose?

Love your vids, KZfaq is stuffed with identikit Snowpark tutorials, your channel has really practical original content. This season I’ve avoided these snake runs through the trees. Tips for speed control?
@malcolmmoore
@malcolmmoore 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Sometimes the snake runs can become a bit out of control. Once you are in them there's not much you can do to slow yourself down much, it's just a case of holding the line! Sucking up your legs over bumps will smooth things out but don't beat yourself up if you get kicked out! If the berm is big enough sometimes you can scrub speed by pushing your tail out over the top and skidding a bit, but besides that, your pretty much just in it for the ride!

@malcolmmoore
@malcolmmoore Жыл бұрын
You should try to avoid jump turns unless it's an absolute necessity. You don't need to do them on any piste, if you're in say a very tight steep couloir they might be required, but most people will never be on anything that steep.

@malcolmmoore
@malcolmmoore 3 жыл бұрын
The best bet is to look at the size chart for a given board, they all have them, and it will tell you what size to go for. It is more dependent on your weight though, and if you have big feet then you will need to get a wide board too 👍
