Thought I’d create a freeline tutorial video. It took me about 6 hours to learn how to ride it and a week to ride it freely. When I first started, I wanted a better tutorial on youtube and couldn’t find that many, so thought I’d share one.
Sorry for the audio, it was pretty windy outside that day and I forgot to bring the fur cover for the microphone

nice tutorial! just an FYI for everyone, the company freeline isn't really doing anything and according to the original creator it was ruined, so if you can please buy from jmkride instead

or any other company works well, I just recommend jmkride because of their quality. plus the way they are made means they can't crack as much as the s shaped ones

yes, the company went bankrupt and they don't make anything anymore. all the ones you see now are the ones they previously made that has been bought by third companies to make profit.

wamsoon I heard somewhere on Reddit that a company associated with freeline may still be producing them but I might be wrong, I'll link the post
@Wamsoon

yes, other company bought only their assets, not the company itself. they're just selling the assets they bought for profit. if they sell enough, they'll probably produce extra as needed, but i don't think the sport is big enough for them to make extra skates right now. But hopefully, the sport will grow, if people like you support other companies out there that still makes them instead of the one that is selling for profit.

wamsoon that's what I'm hoping, this sport has so much potential but it just isn't getting the publicity it deserves. anyways have a great day and keep up the good work!

Dude, big thank you from Hungary. And I mean BIG thank you. I had a quite serious knee injury, gained a lot of weight. All of the tutorials I found was telling me to twist my feet and so on. But to tip my toe to the ground and back, it looks like i could learn how to ride this god damn thing without killing my knee. Tomorrow will try again with your method, will post an update if you would like to know. More videos are welcommed :)

How do you slow down if you are going down a steep-ish path? tried to head down yesterday but realized i didnt know how to slow down... i tried making smaller S's and kind of tripped over myself and wiped out. yikes. i then tried approaching it like a snowboard (just leaning to one side), felt kind of uneasy.

Thanks for the video. What do you think about the cheap freeline skates for learning? $40 seems a lot easier to spend than $100 or more for the name brand ones...
@Wamsoon
@Wamsoon 7 жыл бұрын
i actually learned how to ride with the cheaper freeline skates (with the 40 dollar ones). However, it'll take longer to learn (not by much). I had one of my friend try both of them out and he managed to learn how to ride the freeline pro before the cheap ones. He still has problems riding with the cheap ones, but he can ride the pro no problems. The bearings on the expensive model gives you more glide, so you won't need to make as big of a movement then you would on a cheap one. But all in all, yes! you can learn how to ride on the cheap ones.

with the cheap ones($40 or less), replace the bearings with some quality ones like redz($10 on amazon etc) and they will react a lot like the freeline ogs.

i just picked up the movement and can stay on with a push from the wall... but after i turn, i lose speed and cannot pick up speed with the S movement. instead it creates a lot of friction on the ground and causes my foot to move and flip the skate. any tips on picking up speed?

It seems like you are forccing it rather than being smooth. Try turning your legs a bit so it doesnt feel like you are pushing but doing tiny turns

@Wamsoon
@Wamsoon 7 жыл бұрын
The one i'm using in this video is the PRO. There are also JMK rides (jmkride.com/) that are similar to freelines. Freelines went bankrupt, so they don't make those anymore (so get them while you can, they're pretty rare to find). However, there are companies like JMK who still make freeline skates and are constantly making it better, if you want to support them.
