How to ride on the Boston "T" | MBTA Commuter Train | Boston to Providence | Station Look Around
On this journey I will show you the way of riding on the MBTA Commuter Rail Train in Boston. I'll be taking you on the Providence/Stoughton line. If you have not done this before and plan on riding on the MBTA commuter rail train this will give you a good idea of how it is going to be. I will also show you how to get tickets and the options on the machine to choose from.
You can get hot food, snacks and coffee while you wait for your train. This is a very reliable line and saves you time, instead of being stuck in traffic and having the stress of driving in the city. It is nice to ride the train as you can sit back and relax.

This video helped me figured out how to get to certain stations by the commuter rail! By the way, have you heard about the $10 weekend pass, it’s useful for unlimited travel to any zone for every weekend! :)

@@peacejones7648 There’s a section at north, south and back bay stations where you can purchase a $10 weekend pass. Most of the time, it’s not very easy when showing them to conductors, but some of the time gets easy, it just depends on the conductor.

Just took the commuter rail from forest hills to ruggles. It is very faster than the orange line. I should start taking the commuter rail

Hello Matt, do you have any information on taking a bike on the commuter rail? I have using Amtrak Bos-Providence and the conductors have been giving me too much headache, and have been thinking about switching to MBTA.

It’s been soooo long since living there but when I commuted I believe bikes weren’t allowed during rush hour. So off-peak trains are fine I believe. I did look and I think that’s the case still. The first train out of Providence is 4:15 AM, Boston side is 4:25 AM | Last train for the Boston side is 11:00 PM and for the Providence side 9:35 PM (this train starts at Wickford Junction in Kingston RI. Edit: these may have changed since I wrote these in the fall (editing this in 2023 summer) they also start and end at different times on weekends

I believe it changes on the daily. Based off times on the commuter train.

@@mattsmoments2 I think it also is based on the destination/route, trains going to certain stations seem to board at certain tracks so multiple trains can depart at once without interfering with the other trains departing

Excellent question. Zone 6 means the fare zone you’re paying for. Each zone is typically a different price.

Typically a zone is based on distance and each zone is a different fare price. That’s all It is.
